The couch arrived in two boxes four days early, which was great because we'd just moved into a new house and needed places to sit. My son and I put it together pretty quickly kzfaq.infoUgkxitRzxya-XugamYgLwa_2G1gxPg4MCJHa . Another reviewer suggested inserting the seat into the side and I'm glad they did as the instructions weren't clear on that matter. It's incredibly light and slides easily across the wood floor, making it easy to move. It's firm, but comfortable. It will even be great to nap on. I got the gray, which definitely has strong blue undertones, but I'm okay with that.

got my Barnett C5 Wildcat. 150lb DW. awaiting delivery of a rope cocking device as when I tried to cock it by hand, I barely moved the string 3-4" & thought my spine was going to roll up my back like a roller blind lol. now I can draw & shoot a 60lb Hoyt Charger anywhere between 60 - 120 times in 4 - 5 hours & not get fatigued in my draw arm/shoulder in the least. I don't lack upper body strength. but trying to draw 150lbs+, it's really just not worth risking your back over, much less worrying about a shot going left or right of target. am sure it can be done. many are stronger than me. but for accuracy & spinal health/safety? get a rope-cocking device or a crank. you can't shoot your arrows/bolts with a crippled back ;)

***** I'd say with time & practice (& some tough gloves), you could draw a crossbow by hand. I've seen it done. personally, I'd rather take the easy option (& I'm told a rope/crank draws the string evenly on either side of the rail - making a much more accurate shot) & as you say, avoid spinal risk.
@dwarncke
@dwarncke 8 жыл бұрын
+pfalky2k I used to cock by hand before I knew better. I lost a nice buck one time hunting without a rope cocker as the limb pressure was uneven and I swore I'd never not use one again. It also is hard on your hands after a while. Thanks again for watching this video of mine. I hope you will check out some other videos on my channel as well.

Also, mark your serving with a sharpie on each side of the rail to insure you're pulling the string back the same each time. This is really just as important as a cocking device. When they are used together, you will have much better accuracy

SAFETY FIRST - At 2:56, putting the odd vane down (in the track) is not to help ensure accuracy. It's to ensure the Half Moon Nock is horizontal to the sting to prevent it from possible jumping over the bolt causing injury to yourself and/or anyone close by or causing damage (same as dryfiring) to your crossbow. ON A PERSONAL NOTE - If you cut your cocking rope making it shorter to fit your specific size, you won’t have to draw it all the way up to your armpits.
@RintinTintinz

A good starting video to owning a cross-bow. Perhaps add couple safety points such as; Must not forget the bolt weight is also very important and something to consider when wondering away from manufacture bolts (Could simulate dry firing) Watch those fingers, they will come right off if they are caught by the string when released. I am not sure about miss fire rates or even if there is such a thing? But I wouldn't take it to chance.

@dwarncke
@dwarncke 7 жыл бұрын
jennifer miller Thanks for watching. That's a good question. Without knowing the extent of nerve damage, it's hard to say but generally overall I would say yes. A crossbow should be easier for you to shoot long term. I'd invest in a rope cocking crank device which should mount on the back of the butt stock of the crossbow as an additional option. Thanks again for checking out my videos!

I bought a Centerpoint Hornet pistol crossbow to get into the sport. If I get a lot out of it I'll upgrade to a Barnett. I don't hunt; I'm all for it but don't have the patience for the sport, more into serious target shooting. Bolts can be reused unlike firearm rounds and with ammo prices so high this would make a fantastic pastime. South Louisiana has many rural areas I could archery shoot safely. Thank you!

@dwarncke
@dwarncke 6 жыл бұрын
Jim Jankowski Thank you so much for the comment and compliment. Most popular retail sporting goods stores should have at least a couple of choices. Mine in the video is a Stoney Point and I believe they’re owned by Vista Outdoors, one of the largest families of hunting and shooting brands. Since this video I have favored using an independent bipod for a rest. The BOG bipod, which you can see in action in one of my latest videos reviewing the Barnett Whitetail Hunter Pro crossbow, is great as it’s two legs are adjustable and lock together if you want to use it like a monopod to give you even a steadier rest. Of course the legs also spread apart for stability that way too. There are several options out there. Primos is know for the “Trigger action” mono, bi or tripod shooting rest but it’s a little rich for my blood personally. Good luck and feel free to reach out to me through www.dustinsprojects.com if you have any more questions! I love to help new crossbow shooters!

Sorry. I sounded rude in my last comment. I'm new to archery so I went to Cabellas the other day seeking tutorial on the crossbow and the first thing he instructed me to do was to wax the rail and string. Cabellas had a range right there in the archery department! He showed me how to load the string and bolt then how to use the top dot at 20 yards. Hit the fricken bullseye on my first shot! I love this bow. I bought two of them off eBay. factory reconditioned with one year warranty for $130 each!

arachnophilegrrl we ALL start at the beginning. being new doesn't make you "pathetic". it merely means you're at the start of this journey ;) ask away, learn what you can from those who know better through experience. get yourself into an archery club, BE SURE to check it allows crossbows - not all do, at least that's the status quo here in the UK. practice, practice, practice!. you'll hit walls, you'll get frustrated. push through that & you'll get ever better. remember, ANYTHING worth learning is NEVER an easy road. it shouldn't be. that's called "sorting the wheat from the chaff". if you have a talent for it, & persevere, you'll develop & hone talent into skill. & when you start to see that skill manifest itself, ALL the hard work, frustration & even disappointment, will suddenly seem worthwhile.most of all, relax & enjoy your new sport. let things take their natural course ;)

I was dressed for work that day! I assure you I am down to earth and halfway-country for a city boy. I sell and market manual knife sharpeners for my day job and trade exotic deer in Texas for my side hustle. LOL. Yes, that is more than capable for taking game at 40 yards. Just practice your yardage and different distances and you will do fine. Make sure you have enough weight in your bolt. I like 125 grain but I am just old fashioned that way. I shoot Grim Reapers that far with an 1 1/2 cut radius and it does a number so to go smaller like an inch or 1 1/16 with a broadhead should do you fine with a good pass through and blood trail. Happy hunting and thanks for watching and sharing your comment.

The only thing I dont like about barnett or any other compound crossbow is they are not maintenance friendly. Mostly the timing issue that come about. Then there the having to have a bow press. I know they are getting better on this subject but still to many moving parts. I choose a simple string recurve crossbow. That allows me to change the string on the fly and brace height.

Benjamin .25 junkie I have heard about these issues. You won't look back after you shoot a grim reaper. I've never had an accuracy problem in target shooting or hunting and I've used them exclusively for several years. My choice for crossbows are the 125 grain or 100 grain 1 1/2" cut razor tip. I own a few crossbows. I never needed a crossbow license where I lived before. But I recently moved to Iowa (USA). I was wondering if I need a license to own it even if I don't hunt with it anymore. Like if I need a license to just own it.
@dwarncke
@dwarncke 8 жыл бұрын
+The Doge On Fire Thanks for watching and for the question. I am not sure where you have lived before but I have never heard of needing such a license here in the USA. Since it is considered an archery product, it does not fall into the category of a firearm or fall under other such laws or rules from my understanding. Now in saying that, I must also say that it is always a good idea to check your local laws about using a crossbow in the confines of a county or city area. Our nation is known to have some silly rules. I got involved in hunting with crossbows after the powers that be passed a law in Texas about being able to hunt with crossbows during archery season. Not being able to do so before was a silly rule because both a compound bow and crossbow have similar limitations and characteristics. That, however, is another story for another time. Thank you so much again for watching.

@dwarncke
@dwarncke 8 жыл бұрын
+The Doge On Fire Interesting. In certain areas it might fall under that class as "weaponry" since it could be considered a weapon. I don't think Iowa is a state you have worry about this though. Most states with the more stringent weapons laws are on the East and West coast.

+The Doge On Fire Good question. I would just call your local law enforcement agency and ask about the rules in your area. I don't think there is a need to make a special trip anywhere. Most of what you need to find out can be found via a phone call or two and/or some internet research. Thanks again for checking in.

What would the minimum FPS be for taking down a rabbit? And what sight do you have on your one?

Thanks for watching. You would need minimal fps for rabbit hunting. Just about any crossbow, even a crossbow pistol would work for that. Just use small game points. On that crossbow, I have a BSA Red Dot sight which has three dots for different yardage ranges. My newer crossbows have 4x scopes which I like much better. how long can you keep crossbow in the cocked or shooting position
@dwarncke
@dwarncke 6 жыл бұрын
I just got this question from a friend of mine last week. Most manufacturers will tell you no more than 4 hours but I think you can go longer than that. What you don't want to do is put undue stress on the cams and limbs of the crossbow in the case of a compound crossbow. So if you can avoid it, the advice I would give is that it is safest not to store it cocked or hunt extended periods of time (weekend) with it cocked. Thanks for watching!

Completely depends on how much you want to put in. The minimum you could put in would be around $300. My bow is $400 and I think it's a pretty good one. 325 fps and it game with a 4x32 sight. I have upgraded that sight now but I didn't need to. If you want you could spend upwards of a thousand and get a really nice bow. I just don't use mine enough to drop that much into one

I don’t think you’re using your rope cocker right. I have a Barnett Penetrator and it has a notch in the back which turns the rope cocker into a pulley system basically making it infinitely easier to cock. It looks like you have a notch too, but it’s hard to tell in the video. The still picture you have of the cocker is the shape it should be in when you use it, not the V shape you demonstrate. The hooks on the string and the loop in the notch behind your scope near the stock.
