Based on my own experience over the last few years, I think the "Christian light/dumbed down" version being preached in some churches, is directly related to the desire to bring more money in the doors. Operating as businesses above anything else. I was shocked and disgusted to learn how many churches in my area, took paycheck protection money- which locked them into having to follow the government rules for reopening. All the while, continuing to accept tithe money while keeping their doors closed. Really scary how easy it was for the government to gain massive power of the churches.

Jesus willingly laid down His life and He raised it back. Self sacrifice is Biblical, amen!

Churches don’t preach the gospel anymore and this is how false gospels really gain a footing. We’re too busy doing 5 part series on dating and self-help sermons for how we can have our best life now.

The question of why do they view the Christ through the lens of victimhood I think is based on 2 points: 1. They do not believe that sin separates us from God. (See Mrs. Childers remark on the story of Eden). The question then is: If sin does not separate us from God, why was Christ crucified? There answer has to be something evil. For instance 'We wanted out pound of flesh' as Mrs. Childers says. So God in his holiness, condescends to give us something evil? Instead of standing against sin, he gives into it? 2. Punishment for sin. Because of the first issue, then punishment for sin either doesn't exist in their worldviews, or they believe that it is only for specific people that are deemed evil. Barring the massive amount of questions that that proposition begs, in the end we are believing in two different deities. One who states that sin is wrong and because of it we are damned unless we seek forgiveness through the Son, by faith. The other that believes that sin is a minor issue that requires no atonement. If the two points above are believed, they then think of an innocent man who suffered for no reason. Therefore, he is a victim of some kind of cosmic cruelty. What a god they serve.

It is not the gospel of salvation merely to believe in Jesus; the devils do that (Mark 1:24, James 2:19). Paul clearly states the gospel of our salvation in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4. “… Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: …” - 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 It was through Christ’s death that our sin is removed and we are justified. “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” - 2 Corinthians 5:21 We receive righteous standing with God by faith. “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:” - Romans 5:1 Belief in this gospel alone will save you and give you the grace of eternal life (Rom 6:23). First, we hear this gospel of grace. Second, we trust it, then we are saved: no more, no less. “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise…” - Ephesians 1:13

Does The Gospel Coalition fit this mould?

Progressivism has the correct diagnosis but the wrong prescription for treatment. It recognizes that the love of God in the church has been replaced with legalism, but rather than return to the Lord, the source of love, it turns to the world's counterfeit of love which is politically correct permissability. Legalism has paved the way for Progressivism. Word of Faith taught us not to identify our faith with the transformation that occurs through fellowship and intimacy with the Lord, but rather place God outside of our hearts as a deal-maker or waiter, whose job is to procure for us the things we desire for an affluent lifestyle. As our hearts dried up for lack of fellowship with Holy Spirit, we turned to serving God according to rules which is legalism. Legalism is morphing into the Progressivism we see as a backlash, recognizing the love of God has been replaced with judgemental legalism, but rather than return to the love of fellowship with the Lord, it has in error sought instead the counterfeit love of the world which is politically correct permissability.

Repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand. Seek ye first The Kingdom of God and his Righteousness. Jesus is the Door the way to this Kingdom he is the King of Kings. You can be part of that Kingdom. You can have everlasting life. Jesus has paid the price for your Sin. Repent agree with God confess I e. Agree with God that you are a sinner. Trust in Jesus's work on the cross. If Jesus is God then why he said in gospel of mark chapter 13 verse 32 "and for the day or the hour, nobody knows when it will come. Not even the son nor the angels but only the father". Now if Jesus is God then why he said that he doesn't know the hour? God is all knowing. So Jesus should have known this if he was God. To explain even more clearly still, in terms that everyone should be able to understand, if they want to understand, one human family can amass an absolute fortune, under selfish, fraudulent, illegal laws; in the space of two hundred Earth years; and, in so doing, make millions of other people POOR and miserable. Imagine what would happen IF they were NOT human and lived for ever (zillions of years). How many poor people, and wars, and how much havoc; strife and misery could they then create?
