Is it just me or is KZfaq suggesting way more small creators lately? I found so many good creators like you lately producing high quality videos but having very few clicks on them.

I found him and @theflipsideshow at about the same time. They've both done Kirby videos and both have a kinda laid back sense of humor (The Flipside is probably a little more chill) along with surreal avatars. They both have under 10k subscribers, have a couple dozen videos apiece, and have channels than have been around for about a decade or more but only started making videos in the past few years and more frequently in the past few months. I'm not saying they're the same guy. But I'm lying. I'm saying they're the same guy. In either case, I love both of their sets of content.

The fact that you actually deleted your save file is insane. Your content is so underrated and is some of my favorite on this platform.

I feel that having the gameplay on the bottom screen in wild world fits perfectly because of the touch controls. Fishing and bug catching can be a little difficult using the d-pad so it's nice to be able to switch to using a stylus when positioning the fishing line. (And I think it's just cute to see the constellations in the sky at night on the top screen). This was a great video and I totally agree that all the games have their own little aspects that make them all special!

There is definitely a magic on older Animal Crossing that I felt fade over time. I started with wild world. I never owned city folk, but a played a little bit of it on my cousin's wii and I played both new leaf and new prisons extensively. Wild world for me was a game I played religiously and never got bored of, the only reason I stopped playing is because my child self lost the cartridge and I haven't found it since. It's fast pace and the rolling anesthetic were a big part of what kept me coming back. I always delt like the town was so big and there was so much waiting for me in the days to come. Mind you I was a kid so there's a certain innocence involved. With the little of city folk I played I remember not liking it as much because I preferred the handheld format vastly especially for this series. New leaf likely would have been a game I played more often had I bought it digitally, I was playing so many other games at the time thst put the game back in ever day felt like a chore and I think that sums up my experience with it. I always hear people say how much they loved New Leaf with the level on content and freedom you have and to an extent I agree, but I feel some of the charm was lost and I never really felt that engaged by the ordinance mechanic. I also didn't like the way that the town was segmented, that is city folks fault i realize but i don't like it here either running from one end of town to another is tedious. I did play a ton of it though and it was one of the primary ways I stayed connected with a cyberfriend though. New Horizons I got digitally and did play for a while, building a full town, but then I just lost all motivation due to a lack of new and exciting events. Also something aboht building a town from scratch makes you know everything about, nothing really is sacred and everything can be known and calculated it takes away from the mystique I felt back when I was playing earlier titles. I was also more used to being isolated so I never felt the same need to use that game as a means to communicate and spent time with others, (ironically, it was new leaf that gave me that experience), so I think I was able to see it's flaws sooner. Something about the island feels small and limited when give so much freedom. And of course DiY for equipment sucks. I think they should have let you get unbreakable gear and leaned way more into item customization in the long run so you're driven by rewards rather than necessity.

I'm one of those AC olds that started with the gcn and have a solid 20 years of Animal Crossing with an obscene amount of hours spread out between the main games under my belt. With that said, I'm extremely biased towards the first, it was the game that helped me learn how to read as a small child. I just had to know what my animal friends were saying to me, so much so that I had a small collection of dictionaries that I would refer to whenever I came across a word I didn't know. That kind of magic just can never be replicated, New Horizons had no chance to invoke that in a 21 year old even with the pandemic.

100% agree that New Leaf is the best impartially, although my fave will always be Wild World - I think it's much better than City Folk, both given its impressiveness of having so much on a non-powerful handheld, and also its much deeper lore - it has the most lore events out of any game, and IMO the best writing / localization. I also prefer the more progressive feeling of day-to-day interaction than having most experiences available day one in the city of CF, which always felt like a lazy and easy to implement way of differentiating the two games for the purpose of marketing.

City Folk was my first Animal Crossing game and I got it at a local yard sale. It instantly made me fall in love with everything about the series, and it's still my favorite just because I have such fond memories with it. I typically see people hate on City Folk, so it was very refreshing to see someone actually enjoy it for a change! I loved the video, thank you for all the hard work you put into it!

I can't really agree that Wild World is the worst, especially the comparison to city folk but handheld. More accurate to say City Folk is Wild World but blown up on a console, which is why many people don't like it.

Don’t worry, this video was worth it. If I had to delete my save file for the funny I would have sobbed I have 1,300 hours on my island 😭 I chuckled so much at the deltarune mention since I’m a mega fan and play through chapter one and two every month, any mention of the game satiates my thirst for more chapters 😢. “I realized undertale was an anagram of deltarune and I felt like an idiot” I just keep thinking about it. Very funny

I can't help but reach the same conclusion. Everytime I launched New Leaf I remember all those times where I hid under my blanket to play when I was supposed to sleep. I even bought a DS last year after trying Horizon, it was amazing to meet those silly villagers again :)

i enjoyed this video a lot! my favorite ac game definitely is new leaf even though it isn't my first. if people dislike ac on wii only is because we waited a good amount of time only for a reboot. + can't wait for the next ac game to come out

Such a great video! Totally worth sacrificing an island for. I started with the original game, and it's still my personal favorite. I'm glad to see that magic isn't just pure nostalgia; rather, it's writing and simplicity make it a treat to this day.

Absolutely WILD to delete your save in the name of science. I respect the moxie. I personally have only ever played New Leaf and New Horizons, and for me I feel like you're right that New Leaf is objectively the best out of the five, but I also feel like New Horizons is so much its own thing that it almost can't be compared. Whether that's good or not is subjective, obviously; they changed a lot of the core parts of the game and people hate change. Part of it I think comes down to a key thing about the person playing: are you the kind of person who, when playing the Sims, spends four hours building a house and creating a family and then doesn't actually play the GAME? I am. So for me, New Horizons offers more of the gameplay I enjoy: building a little world that tells a story. In New Leaf you didn't get as much opportunity to do that. You only had so many public works projects, ten custom codes, and your villager's houses were always going to lack a cohesive personality because they kept demanding bugs and fish off you or buying stuff from retail. You had so little opportunity to really tell a story with your town beyond very limited surface level aesthetics. In NH meanwhile I loved being able to put, say, a lawn mower outside Raddle's house in the middle of a ton of overgrown weeds because he's lazy and has never once mown his lawn. Or being able to put Pippy and Gabi's photos in each others' houses, because I like to think they're sisters. The characters in New Horizons are the thinnest they've ever been, but I think bizarrely for me that works better. I can take what little the game gives me and read into it how I want, amandafiles or angrycoconut style, creating villagers that feel not just distinct from each other but distinct from other versions of themselves on other islands. My own imagination builds the story and I have a ton of fun with that! If they came out with a patch to add in more interesting and more varied and (god forbid) more rude dialogue I'd cry tears of joy, obviously, but I also have such strong characters built up in my head for my villagers now that I'd probably get annoyed to have them contradicted by more specific characterization. oh my god this comment got long I'm so sorry

I always hear people rave about Wild World being the best, but I never played it or the OG on Gamecube. City Folk was my first introduction of the series, and while I have issues with it, there is a charm to it that I loved/miss from later installments. I'm not sure what my favorite-list-order would be, but top three would be City Folk, New Leaf, and New Horizons. I *would* love a new game where we got the rudeness of the OG, though, and dialogue in City Folk, with mini-games of New Leaf, and terraforming of New Horizons. Get rid of that tool-breaking mechanics, though. XD Going from NH to NL, it was jarring to forget I cannot place furniture outside freely, though... Was too spoiled. XD

I have only played New Horizons even though I had a Wii & DS back then. So by default it's a game I treasure especially for the time it gave me in 2020. Though I don't really play at all for the last 2 years so...your point about it being more chores definitely feels true. I really want to buy New Leaf and try that game. And a big thanks for making this video I enjoyed it a lot :)

I've tried the original AC...Never could really get into it, it felt clunky to me. I've played new leaf and besides not actually ever completing it...I enjoyed my time it in. New horizons is the one i'm putting tons of my time into. I tried to go back to new leaf but...I just couldn't get back into the groove.
