i really admire people like you who take the rules very seriously and really try their best to do the right thing. it is a strong sign of someone with integrity... with that being said.. put the coral in the trunk, and leave a bag of oranges in the back seat. the officer will get a nice mid afternoon treat, and you can get all the corals you want! lol

Dude…as a frequent Canada/US border crosser myself..my advice is to NEVER divulged or say anything other than what they ask. LoL. I literally face palmed at the part when they waved you through but you spoke up about needing to declare something. Man no! I get that you wanted to it right and all..but you’ll learn in time…it seldom pays to divulge or give more information than what’s asked.and it can cause real headaches. In fact…I have a “Denied Entry” now because I volunteered that I was also going to help my Dad with some tile work. (A Denied Entry is permanent red flag on customs systems and now causes me major delays every time I pass through US customs at airport when flying from Canada to US). Great content though. Cheers
@InappropriateReefer
@InappropriateReefer Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the heads up! What, how does going to the US to help with some family tile work caused a denied entry?! Is it not OK for Canadian to cross the border even for actual work in the US? (asking because that's one of my potential master plan too if push comes to shove... live in Canada but keep my work in the US by crossing the border each day, lol)
@Val_Halla777
@Val_Halla777 Жыл бұрын
@@InappropriateReefer No prob bud. Yes like you mentioned, much is up to the individual border agent. I can only assume that by law any mention of performing any unauthorized work qualifies for a Denied Entry. I was going down to golf..and stupidly I also volunteered that was also going to help my Dad with some tile work in bathroom. (Parents only lives 30min away from me, but in US) Agent said “well, we can’t have you taking a job away from US citizens. I told him my Dad was either doing it alone or with my help..so no job American job lost. But it didn’t matter. I didn’t think it was worth contesting..and only realized the issues the next time a flew out of Vancouver for my daughters first flight and trip to Disneyland. To make is extra special I got business class tickets so we could have breakfast in Air Canada lounge first…but because of the red flag..we all had to instead go and spend next hour waiting in queue at customs to get green lit to travel. Ugh. And was told that would happen every time because of the denied entry record on system. Btw. I used to live in US and had green card..but when going to college in Canada..I spent a few days past 6mos without returning to US..and it got revoked. Hope you’re able to find a way to make things work..probably just takes the proper amount of homework and maybe immigration law assistance. Thanks and Cheers.

WRONG. While you can import soft coral into Canada, it is mandatory to declare. Even if they don't ask, if you fail to declare it can be confiscated/fined. So, your risk if you don't want to say anything but I don't understand why you wouldn't declare something you're allowed to have?

I have two clusters, the one in the middle of the tank sits under around 250 μmol/s; the one further back and down is around 180 μmol/s. Before the crash, my main cluster is under around 310 μmol/s. I also have a frag that sits under about 140 μmol/s and retained the same color. I suspect it may have to do with nutrients or trace elements since mine has been under different light intensity with similar coloration.

I love it as a car, the autopilot (free) was particularly impressive; though if your car has cruise control + lane assist, it's essentially the same thing. No quality control issue with the MY so far, however, we can't fast charge at home yet (only slow charge ~3x a week, townhouse with no garage), so charging is the major pain point. If you have a garage to charge at home, or could charge at work, it's a no brainer for me especially at the new price point. The minimalistic interior is very nice, and power at the wheels on demand (no lag, no shift) is something that I did not expect to like as much as I do. The ability for the car to "update" over the air is a nice surprise as I feel like the car is consistently improving, and not feel left out when new features drop.

I usually try to find the 250 kwh superchargers, while in Canada most of the ones I used have been 150. Off the top of my head most stops are around 20 minutes. That'd bring my battery from the 20-something range to 80something range. If it happens to be a nice stop, we may stay longer to charge it even more. One thing to keep in mind is that once the battery becomes fuller, the charge speed slows down, sometimes drastically. This is probably to free up the super chargers for more cars in need.

Welcome to Canada where I am from (Vancouver). Pros for Canada: - Free health care, - Great Asian food if you're moving to Vancouver or Toronto (one of the best worldwide) - People are general friendlier - Safer, - Corals are cheaper than US. Cons for Canada: - Real Estate is UNAFFORDABLE in Toronto or Vancouver!! Where are you going to put your reef tank? Real estate is expensive! - High taxes; lower wages, - People are obsessed with real estate, - Not as many reef stores around, - Canada doesn't have as many places to travel compared to US.
@InappropriateReefer
@InappropriateReefer Жыл бұрын
Oh you hit the nails on the head for us! (only think I'm not sure is the coral price, have not had a chance to check!) Since we (my wife) loves good Asian food, we were casually looking right outside the Richmond Hill / Markham area that's a bit more suburb and aiming for good school, but wow, the real estate cost is no joke over there...!! No sign of slowing down?
@sandyraymondlowewong9705

@@InappropriateReefer Policymakers in Canada are addicted to high home prices in Vancouver and Toronto. Every time home prices should be dropping in Canada, the opposite happens because our Canadian government doesn't want it to drop. The policies in Canada are made to drive up home prices. It's not likely to ever become affordable. You know how Americans are into the stock market? In Canada, Canadians are addicted to real estate prices. Richmond Hill and Markham are not cheap. If you love Asian food, Vancouver and Toronto are very well known for it. Vancouver is supposed to have the second best sushi in the world next to Japan. Your wife will enjoy dining out in Greater Toronto since she loves Asian food but it's ridiculously expensive to live in GTA and GVA. You'll also notice corals are much cheaper in Canada however, there is much less selection.

It is amazing how apparently brilliant minds of Tesla have not launched Tesla diner/coffeeshops together with the charging stations - they'd make billions by selling food to people charging their cars. 🤔
@InappropriateReefer
@InappropriateReefer Жыл бұрын
I think they are absolutely doing it! At least in the US where I am (East Coast), Tesla seems to have partnered up with a lot of Royal Farm & Sheetz gas stations to install their chargers there. Fantastic idea because those shops are my favorite even when stopping during a road trip to gas up & grab drinks + snacks. Further north though the Tesla chargers seems to be at random places, sometimes even in garages that I would need to pay to get in.
