Happy birthday, Walt. Over 150 years later we still listen. Oh, if only you could see Brooklyn now. But perhaps you do.

A beautiful rendering of this wonderful poem, married with carefully-chosen visuals. A treat. I live close to the Mersey ferry to Liverpool and apply Whitman's experience to my crossings. It puts my small life into perspective This poem says so much that is central to The Human Experience. If there is one Whitman poem to learn by heart, this is it. Thank you very much, PianoProf, for your good work.

I don't know Tamil, but it sounds like a great project for someone! I do recall from as early as fifteen, when my father placed his facsimile 1855 _Leaves of Grass_ in my hands, a passage mentioning "the Hindoo" so here it is: I hear the Hindoo teaching his favorite pupil the loves, wars, adages, transmitted safely to this day from poets who wrote three thousand years ago. What do you see Walt Whitman? Who are they you salute, and that one after another salute you? I see a great round wonder rolling through space, . . . Walt Whitman "Salut au Monde!" I too am crying often as I hear these readings. Don't miss '"Crossing Brooklyn Ferry" by Walt Whitman | #Whitman200 at Brooklyn Public Library' 🌎🌍🌏

@@stephen_pfrimmer it’s like listening to opera when you don’t speak the language. It’s the emotion that the music generates. It’s the same thing with any art. Look for the feeling in generates for you. If there is none, then drop it and move on.
