This episode 2 of our trek around Annapurna in Nepal perfectly describes the physical and mental challenges we encountered during our trek. The second day of the trek involves a 943 meter ascent from Ulleri to Ghorepani, where we stay in a lodge with basic amenities including a single fireplace to heat the entire building. The third day involves a 1675 meter descent to Tatopani, which proves to be a difficult and exhausting experience, especially for Yoko and Sue our two youngest children. we encounter beautiful scenery along the way, including local flowers like the red rhododendron, but we also face difficult terrain and dangerous river crossings on suspension bridges. The experience is spartan but also unifying, with a sense of camaraderie and sharing among our family.
