Cool! Where did you cross from/to or are you not allowed to share that info? So pleased our little adventure helped you relive your passages. Cheers!

I became a shellback crossing with the US Navy (technically 6 times, and we did the ceremony 3 times), and there were obviously no sails on that ship. Y'all chose to do it with the sails up, which is admirable, but even if y'all had motored across...IT COUNTS! You're shellbacks! I saw a bit of a question in this episode and a "it counts!" No question at all, y'all are shellbacks, and that's not a common thing. CONGRATULATIONS AND WELCOME (a year late from me) TO THE ANCIENT ORDER OF THE DEEP!

Wow 6 times is pretty cool to say. Yeah I think the lack of wind allowed us to sit over the equator longer than anyone would have expected but it was really cool to cross in the middle of nowhere and go just a little crazy 😂 🤪

Couldn’t believe how close they got to the boat. And they were all just relaxing there. Actually made me think of 100m sprinters after a race. Think these guys were catching their breath after a deep hunting dive.

Thanks! Yeah we are actually in contact with all of them and it’s fun hearing how their passages have gone. All three left from México rather than panama so it shaved around 1000nm off the trip for them. Looks like they all got much nicer weather too

The one important thing about a catamaran, the redundancy factor. Having no engine in the duldrums would be a total bummer. Sounds like a leak somewhere. Take care, Steve.
@RedSeas
@RedSeas Жыл бұрын
Exactly! We figure that we have redundancy in almost every system onboard and we are certainly testing that theory. Still, the wind can’t be far away.

Nice outfit there for the ceremony Brioni, had me in stitches. Loved the scroll and the decree as well. Seeing all those pilot whales was truly amazing, I have been whale watching numerous times and have never seen anything like that. Once in a lifetime spectacle there. you two are inspiring. Such a journey. Glad you two jumped into the water in the equator, seems kinda scary to do so and yet so exhilarating at the same time. Cheers for a safe voyage and sorry that one of the engines is acting up, hopefully it can be fixed without too much hassle. always look forward to the next episode, partially out of worry but mostly out of excitement.

What a great comment. Yeah, we both looked around quite a bit before jumping in. It’s a weird feeling swimming with 4km of water under you and no idea what might come up to say hello. Still, super pleased we did it. The whales were just wild. So replaced and interested in the boat. I was tempted to get back in the water with them but didn’t want to sisters their resting between dives. There is so much going on in this crossing, we can’t wait to share it all. The good and the not so good but hopefully everyone enjoys the journey as much as we are.

Man thank you! There are days when hearing something like that means the world (today is actually one of them). Thank you for the boost. It makes such a difference. Hopefully our little adventure gets in front of more people as we go. Share it with everyone you know and we might double our subs in no time 😊 so pleased to be able to share the adventure with you each week and still can’t believe we are doing this!

You are doing so well, keep going, the trade winds are behind the corner...Amazing Starlink you got! Do they charge you by the Gigabite? Happy rest of crossing guys!
@RedSeas
@RedSeas Жыл бұрын
Those trades can’t be far away now. Surely. Think we are having some extra fun due to it being an El Niño year which is really messing with the winds. We have recently had starlink change our pricing plan to charge us by the gb while our at sea but during the crossing we have been lucky enough that they haven’t enforced it yet. It’s one of our highest expenses every month so a tough pill to swallow

Thanks for looking out for us. It’s been a big risk taking on the passage with only two of us onboard but the systems we have put in place appear to be working for us. Being able to manage longer shifts so the other can get a full 8 hour sleep has been a game changer. Here’s hoping we are carried safely to the other side.

Your seabird is a BOOBY! You have to know those because it's so fun to yell BOOBY! Brown boobies seem to be most popular but possibly a blue footed booby since you're so close to the Galapagos (I didn't look that closely) ❤
