Not sure about kind-hearted, but he is practical. He sits down with world leaders who make fun of him publicly and still negotiated trade deals. He met with the North Korean leader. He warned European leaders about NATO spending and reliance of Russia gas... despite them criticizing him. He honestly doesn't care what people think of him as long as he gets what he wants from them. China, Canada, Germany, etc. all badmouthed him and yet he nailed all of them in trade deals.

Have you read any of Mises? In 1920 he published a paper showing the fundamental economic impossibility of socialism. His book Socialism is superb, should be required reading for all high school students - good luck with that one. Mises Institute is a good source of his publications.
