Dave Fleming, the SF Giants play-by-play announcer was also in the ESPN vehicle along with another ESPN employee. All were eyewitnesses and all have been very cautious with what they are saying publicly. None want to put themselves into the story or offend their hosts. Witness statements have now been taken from them and the other traffic control workers present. Rumor is that none of the witnesses statements back up the officers “embellished” story.

Somehow I doubt Scotty suddenly became a cop hating crazy person on a dark wet morning trying to get to the golf course for his tee time at a Major championship. He wasn’t drunk, he wasn’t a fugitive, he was arrested by an angry cop. I’m not buying the cop’s story.

the Prosecutor is as corrupt as the Police... the "Officer" committed false arrest, false imprisonment, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, mis-malfeasance, falsifying charges, falsifying government documents, deprivation of rights; the "Officer" is also the sole cause if 95% of his injuries latching onto a moving automobile when he could have (being an accident scene recreation expert) instead pounded on the hood or trunk to get the driver's attention... the Prosecutor is also REQUIRED to disclose exculpatory evidence, AND prosecute the "Officer" if there is evidence of the "Officers" wrong doing... If there is any true Justice the "Officer" should not be being treated as thought everything he did was lawful, and everything Scottie did was unlawful...🤔

My hubby was a policeman in high crime areas of NYC for 20 years. Sometimes he would take a kid home to the parents rather than give the kid a record, He often bought meals for panhandlers and told them they they couldn’t bother people again or he would have to arrest them. He helped women get to shelters away from abusive men, he delivered babies, took sick babies & parents to hospitals when he thought the kids were critically ill . He used he gun 2 times but only when he was being shot at. That was back in the day when cops had proper training in keeping the peace but no college degrees. I think the policy they are referring to might be the officer's lack of use of his body camera. The cop is making some huge claims that he should be able to prove if he had his body cam on. So I guess the cop thinks we should just take his word that he was dragged. Sounds like a bogus claim and I bet it ends in Scotty paying a fine and it's over. I had a very similar incident happen to me in the mid 80's when I was in my early/mid 20's like Scottie. I was a newly graduated Aerospace Engineer and had been in Dallas/Ft. Worth for work and had just returned to Orlando on a late night flight. I was exhausted and driving north out of OIA I encountered a large wreck at an intersection of a busy 4 lane highway (State road 436) Blue lights were flashing and cops were everywhere directing traffic...some how I went brain dead and drove right past a cop directing me and turned left into the crash scene...I was putting along at about 5 or 10 mph trying to figure out where I should be going and to make sure I didn't hit any of the pedestrians that were all about and was just trying to get by on the edge of the road, when next thing I know a cop was running beside me beating on my car. I immediately stopped and the cop was screaming at me....i tried to get my window down and was trying to figure out what was going on and he opens my car door open and jerks me out of the car and starts trying to handcuff me. I had spent four years in the Marines and had held a brown belt in Okinawan Judo and some of that kicked in and I instinctively resisted his attempt to handcuff me and for a brief nano second had him in a hold to lead to a judo hip throw, but I stopped way before that and just asked him to tell me what is going on. By then a Seargent was on scene and I had regained my composure and let him cuff me and put me in the cruiser. Long story short I ended up being taken to jail and booked for some very similar sounding charges as Scotty. I recognized I got confused and went the wrong way as I was directed but I meant no malice and i was pretty pissed about how and why it escalated. I got a lawyer and he ended up threatening to sue the department for wrongful arrest and given my military service and being an Aerospace Engineer with Orlando's 2nd largest employer and having no criminal record they dismissed everything except the charge of not following a police officer's traffic directions. I generally support the blue but some of the guys out there seem to have forgot they are to protect and serve.

I watched the hearing on the motion. The arraignment was pushed back on a motion by Scheffler's lawyer because he was not consulted on the date. Had nothing to do with any evidence or anything else. He did mention they're trying to get exculpatory evidence to the prosecution. But that wasn't the reason it was pushed back. I'm sure Scheffler's lawyer would like to see the charges dropped before then, but the prosecution looks like they really want to go to trial with this. It's kind of bizarre. If the charges aren't dropped, there will likely be a probable cause hearing. I think there's a felony charge in there. Not sure why there's no grand jury for that charge. Maybe there will be, dunno.

The bus ahead of him was not moving because there was nobody in the bus that Scheffler drove around, and the ESPN crew were directly behind the bus that was essentially parked in the middle of the road. Stacking up many false charges has been a tactic of law enforcement for 2 decades. Done so you will plead down and get other charges to stick. No rational person grabs a car and lets it drag them. That’s like a soldier grabbing a tank to make it stop. This same situation happened to a friend of mine at a college basketball tournament where cops were forcing people to turn right but he didn’t understand and went straight to the Interstate. They chased him down and hit him with 5 charges for going straight one of which was attempted assault by vehicle. He was a city counsel board member. Not one charge stuck because they refused to plead to anything. Cops who want to demonstrate power are a danger to society.

I just can't imagine a PGA professional behaving in this manner right before he was to warm up for one of the biggest PGA events in the USA. I guarantee you that Det. Gillis was quite full of himself that day and overreacted when Scheffle appeared to disobey his instructions. Most police officers are good people, but every department in this country has 1 or 2 guys like Gillis who are dying to make sure that you know they are in charge. Scheffle will have the charges dropped and some sort of a fine will be paid by Scheffle to save Det. Gillis and his department from the embarrassment of his overly aggressive with the PGA pro.
