We're using the latest speed test software to test the speed of the Crucial X6 2TB External SSD. In this test, we're measuring the speed of the SSD in both read and write operations.

so our replacement drive has arrived. and for those that watch our videos, you know that I had issues with a previous Samsung drive. That X6 is perfect to have your music on. I have one 2Tb myself and all my +2500 CDs (in wav-format) and all my musicvideos/conserts fits on it and I have over 300 Gb free on it also. My read-speed is 899,4 Mb/s in HD Tune Pro 5

Hi there, i just saw your comment and i want to ask you how this disk doing for storing music and basic stuff. I want to buy the 1TB or maybe 2TB Crucial just to offload 50-60GB music from my mac there and maybe my parallels virtual Pc file, Do you think this disk will manage it ? Nothing fancy, just to click my music and play the file without delay or stuttering, and booting the VM ,ok slower than the internal disk but not too slow. Thanks

What Mac are you using? On my MBP M1 Max with the X6 1TB im getting 627 MB/s Read and 770 MB/s Write

I just got the crucial x9 standard, tad cheaper then the pro but with the silly usb adapter...I honestly cant tell much with Final Cut Pro..I do heavy editing, multi cam, no rendering, flat off multitrack video...and I hear all the new suds above 2tb by sandisc and Samsung are losing data now, have you had this experience with a 4tb crucial?

What speeds is this with bigger files of a few gigs,.I've heard it goes down to about 45 which is really slow.

What is your port? We use an older mac with USB 3 5 Gb/s so theoretical would only be approx 625MB/s testing with a 4GB file 400/450 MB/s is not that bad. again using 5 Gb/s port.

Really surprised about the Samsung drive. This is a better speed solution for sure, but I'd be afraid of "misplacing" such a small device because I couldn't see it against the bag clutter.

yes that can be an issue for sure, but I usually have a small bag that I use to carry my cables and small drives. So not a huge issue for me. but I would love to see a drive like this with an option to buy in a bright color.

So using a USB 4 and 10Gb/s r/w speeds are from 600-950 MB/s range again that is because this port is faster and can reach the speeds advertised. Test with a 4GB and 7GB file. Note speeds will also vary when copying files with larger directory structures and large tree depth of directs and files. That is to say if you have 1000s of files in a directory that is several layers down from root and lots of files like this in many different directors in sevral layers down the speed will vary and more often to the slower end. That is just nature of the copy/move commands in really any OS.

Yeah overall price for crucial stuff is competative i hope for you SDD is better then HDD i had a HDD made 3 partitions on it and within 3wks it lost partitions made new one and again got the drive replaced within 2months the same issues, So be carefull not loosing any footage or so. Hope SSD is way better.

It's available for $120 US , for 2 tb and 60 for 1 tb, i got thr 1 tb one for 64 (with taxes)

let`s be real crutial x6 speed is 240 mb/s to lower .those tests dont make any sense ,,,

still use this drive a lot for editing and constantly get over 400. so not sure why you are only getting 240.

@@gregtoope just bought mine and arrived today i used copy files form my laptiop which useses a ssuper fast nvme p5 and it was like 240 mb max and soem times even slower like 150 mb maybe depend son the fils but maybe it defective or an old batch the new nes maybe hit hihger speeds mayeb this one is old anywya its ok tho but not as fast as all pll say i use ctype connetion and i neevr got over 240 mb mostl 150 mb ,

one of the worst drives i've ever purchased. write speeds drop to 1-4MBs after the drive is more than 20% full.

Here is my experience with the X6. I bought the X6 4TB which cost me $569 CAD!!!! First time buyer of Crucial product. The one I received clocked about 35MB/s, more than 25 times slower than advertised. So ok, I have a defective unit. I contacted Crucial and after a bit they agreed to send me a new one. Except, when it arrived, I had to pay for duties because they put the full value on the invoice, which cost me another $90. This was not what I experienced with returns from other companies over the years, where it is usually indicated that this is a replacement for a defective unit. So I called the company and was told it is "company policy". So ok, another $90n bucks gone, but at least I have a new working unit; WRONG!!!! The new unit was the same as the old one. So after almost $700, I am stuck with something that belongs in the garbage. Nice work, Crucial. I have tried on several computers, Lenovo(i7, 7th generation) win10, Surface Pro 6 with i7 win10, and another win7 desktop. So I downloaded the firmware thinking it could fix it. Both the online version and the iso version couldn't even find the X6 when it was connected. I don't know what to do now....

Okay another edit, did you use a usb cable of your own? Not all cables are suited for high speed from what ive read. Edit, my bad I see surface book pro 6 has only one usb connection which is 3.0. (Btw i read on forums people complain about very low usb speeds on surface book pro i7, just google it) I am pretty sure you put it in usb 2 port, had the same mistake and ~35 mbps (conveniently I thought all usb connections on my laptop were usb 3.0)

@@Teelsambal Thanks for the reply. I tried on two other computers. A USB memory stick in the same port yielded 150MB/s transfer rate. I since received a WD SSD which yielded over 500MB/s in the same port.
