Its probably more that other guests are uncomfortable by people filming every part of their vacation. I understand the guests and the creators, but not every creator is respectful of others privacy on vacation.

I watched the video that gave 5 stars for the ship 5 stars for the crew and the other ones were still in the 4 in 3 range

Having been in the YC recently and seeing all the video activity going on, I don’t think it was a complaint. I think it was because they posted negative content in the past. I’ve also been in the Haven and Retreat and have seen plenty of people filming this and that and nobody seemed to care. Yes there can always be a random Karen, but I think it was more targeted. Either way it’s a bad look for them

Ben and David are so careful not to show anybody who doesn’t want to be shown. I think this was about a member of staff looking at their channel and seeing that three years ago they called MSC the worst cruise they had ever experienced. So yes, they were afraid of a bad review, which is ironic because up until that point the video series was giving an extremely favorable review.

I’m betting thousands of TA’s have been canceling MSC itineraries since this video came out.

Certainly this is going to be much worse for MSC than a negative review video would have. MSC miscalculated dearly

For multi billion corpo, 125K view is a drop in a bucket. It's not going to have an impact on their bottom line

Over a Million subscribers have no doubt have watched the review of Ben and David…La Vida loca channel, this channel etc…that’s a lot of people that are fully aware of MSC mismanagement….bravo! I applaud Ben and David for sharing their experiences.

I've heard that the food on MSC is dogshit and the only thing that is slightly good is their pizza. That's it. I would never sail with them.

You are just a one sider person unable to make up your own decision on matters - you need to experience it yourself if you like a cruise line or not

I've only heard negative things about MSC, not really interested in cruising with them. I cruise a lot and enjoy watching a lot of cruise channels for ship tours and reviews

That's just one additional reason to not sail MSC. There are many others, without even using this latest reason

Hmmmm. A guest on a cruise ship being told that he/she cannot take a picture of their travel companion using their own personal smartphone? I find that very difficult to believe. It sure sounds like there's some more to that story.

@@patnd5c68if you watch their video… Ben clearly asks after they are told to stop filming with their bigger camera if he is allowed to take photo/video with his personal IPhone. He also states that David is his husband at that point, and questions if he is able to take personal video/photographs. He is told no…they must stop all filming/videoing weather with or for personal reasons. They have all of the person they are talking to edited out due to privacy. It’s after this that he states that they are returning to their cabin. That no they don’t need to be escorted and no they will not be photographing or filming anymore and that whoever their speaking with was starting to become pushy and aggressive…

You do see some KZfaqrs who think they are special and are pushy thinking they should be given special treatment. Recently there was an article in the papers about a woman KZfaqr who demanded free meal or she would give a negative vlog. I’ve also seen a tuber demand public get out of their way because they are doing a vlog or instagram pic. Ben and David tend to go very early in the morning or late when there isn’t anyone around they are thoughtful in their filming.

They may have done something more. I don't like them either! They made a complaint once about women and children being saved first. They felt it should be equal and they should have the same rights. There's something wrong with them.

I agree completely! There are some Disney content creators that are flat out entitled and obnoxious but Ben and David are aware and respectful of other passengers- they actively try not to disturb them.

They are incredibly disrespectful to the residents of many of the countries their ships port in, however.

@@user-ub8fn5ek5ujust go to their channel and watch the vlog. They say exactly what happened. They didn’t take the invitation, because they wanted to be honest about their review, so they paid their trip.

Exactly. And who would want to bear and grin dealing with the staff who yelled at them for the remainder of the cruise? Why would one sit there and not able to take photos of their holiday they paid for whilst others around are allowed to? I wouldn't want to have to deal with rude MSC staff and I probably would've left early as well. Having an eagle eye trained on your every movement to ensure you don't whip out a camera would not be a great holiday.

Yes they will. The vast majority of cruisers aren’t filming onboard and people cruised long before KZfaq. If MSC continues to give low prices and decent service they will not only survive but will continue to grow.

@@mickeytollisonI am a travel agent, I hear an enthusiastic retelling about a video of a cruise or a ship that some youtuber went on at least once a day. I would say most if not nearly all of the first time or less experienced cruisers who book with me, if they have a specific ship or line in mind, are basing this decision off of a youtuber’s endorsement.

Thank you Fam... When I watched their video and others doing it, I reserved judgment hoping that it wasn't because they are Married Gay Lovers, but I'm really getting that intuition... What I can't understand for the life of me is how could ppl be so stupid, not on the prejudice of their lifestyle, but of the missed Golden opportunity to turn that business image around and show them the time of their life so they naturally become promoters. Even if they saw all their videos, someone with half a brain should have said "We are going to give them everything we got and then some and if they still negatively critique us, so be it". I was very leery about MSC before but I'm a hard 'no' now. Objective and fair customer critique is how go from being a mid-business to a top tier one! Ppl don't realize that Chick Fil A's cult following is because they fined tuned their service delivery based off of customer pain points and not bottom line, which ironically increased their bottom line over the last 20 years.

I do not believe for a minute that it is their sexuality that this is about. Many Vloggers are gay. As are many of the passengers and staff. As a member of the gay community I don't feel it is helpful insinuating this with no evidence at all.

And that business of nearly making them miss their flight home and then demanding they sign papers they hadn't even had time to read is just so shady (you know the papers had to include a waiver so MSC couldn't be sued; good thing they didn't sign).

@@JSHIPLIFE they were on MSC one other time. They were not stopped from videoing but were not treated very well. They got an E- mail from MSC to be guests on board. B & D did not take the offer but decided to try one more cruise on their own to see if the first time was a fluke. I think when MSC realized they were on board that’s when they shut them down being afraid of what they were going to say. I do not blame B & D for being upset !!

During breakfast you could see a waiter in the background giving them the ‘stink eye ‘. I wondered if that somehow got things going. Very stupid on MSC’s part as they turned a great review for the Yacht Club into a fiasco.

They pointed out they were flming commercially? Case closed, your honour.

They mentioned this in their video. When they got home, they emailed the woman who had offered the cruise to them, and she wrote back a bs response, siding with the cruise line.

They were on the ship for 4 days before this happened. They were treated wonderfully until that point. They did ask them about their KZfaq channel, so maybe they saw the last bad review of MSC. Ironically they were giving rave reviews of the ship, until that point.

You need to make your own decision with your own experience of the ship - I know it hasn’t chance my opinion of MSC I always had my own good experience of this cruise line

One point that Ben and Dave highlighted though is the death knell for me sailing with them and that is the smell of cigarette smoke permeating throughout the ship. It's bad enough when I accidentally walk through a smoking area on other vessels but I would not cope with the amount as described by the boys. I tend to believe them about this point since Ben suffers asthma. As for the rest of the latest review it had by and large been a positive experience until this censorship and the way it was handled.

The experience on MSC is horrible. I was on the Meraviglia in December, the food was so bad and inedible. I got off in Nassau 4 days early and flew home. They need to dramatically overhaul the dining experience.

I think this situatuon is more about privacy of other guests. People do not want professional camera crew recording them on their vacation for YOUR youtube channel. creators are not respectful of others in some cases and other guests have rights too

​@Smart_Think I agree, somewhat but other cruise vloggers have been permitted to film. I watched Ben and David's video and one of the last things they showed was an email from MSC inviting them onto the ship for free. They declined the offer because they wanted to give a fair review. They then purchased the cruise and began filming and giving very positive reviews of the ship. I think when management realised who they were, they shut them down without looking at the footage that had been taken. MSC will regret this and may even apologise to them when they realise the backlash is impacting the cruise line negatively.

When did they explicitly tell Ben & David it was because they posted negative comments about MSC in the past? In the original video, Ben & David were clear that they suspected that was why they were being censored, but no company representative admitted this.

MSC clearly didn’t learn anything from Ben and David’s previous review of their experience. It sounds petty and unprofessional to treat them this way. This doesn’t look good for a company that is trying to break into the American market. Americans’ cancel hand is strong. We can see the ripple effects right now based on the comments in every video discussing this topic. People have been complaining about their customer service and they haven’t done anything apparently. The food quality is a point of contention. All MSC has to do is send someone from their team on an undercover mission to try other cruise lines’ food and how they present the food to their passengers. Watch and learn! How hard is that to do?

They'll probably just sit it out. In 6 month nobody will talk about it anymore, they'll still be the 800-pound-gorilla in Europe/SouthAmerica/Africa and if their expansion into North America was slightly slowed down, well that sucks but will blow over. Look at most of those comments. A great many from people who state "I've never sailed MSC", so they're not really losing any customers they had, just maybe not gaining as many new customers. Also this seems to be mostly making waves in the English speaking community, you'll be surprised how many passengers on MSC barely speak englisch. A German, Frenchmen or Spaniard is not basing his decision on how they treated some British KZfaqrs they've never heard of

after watching vids on MSC for several years, it was to hell with them before Ben and David's video on sunday.

I was just about ready to book it MSc cruise in their yacht club due to the first video on the world Europa that was positive I was thinking about the seathor I like it's New York theme and because it's not a MSC world Europa class vessel it would be a little cheaper to stay in the yacht club

Their poor attitude is most likely why their prices are so great. If they could charge more I believe they would.

You like Ben and Dave that’s great so you are rooting for them - we will never know the truth of the situation- but it was regrettable that Ben and Dave didn’t stay on the ship and stand their ground- they were not told to leave the ship Ben and Dave wanted to play victims of the situation and have viewers fight for them

@@user-ub8fn5ek5u I disagree. They weren't just told they couldn't film. The staff, including their butler in the Yacht Club turned hostile and negative as soon as this happened. Why stand your ground and be miserable for the remainder of the cruise when everyone you've interacted with positively turns sour and rude instantly? Especially when you dropped $6k of your own money to enjoy the cruise. You know they'd be followed, scrutinized and harrassed just from the treatment they received once they were told they couldn't film. By the way, even that was handled badly by MSC, doing it in a public area with other passenges around watching and hearing rather than privately and discretely. Staying onboard would be more like willingly subjecting yourselves to Soviet/Stasi style surveillance and pointless irritation than an enjoyable cruise experience.

They showed the camera body of a mirrorless, interchangeable lens camera which can take anything from a point/shoot lens, to a monster lens. And even a lens which looks small and unobtrusive, could be able to count your pubic hairs and tell the world how long ago you dyed each one of them. I've never watched their channel, but I've taken my professional photo equipment to places where it is not welcome, and it is a roll of the dice even though I don't actually make commercial use of the photography I do. I am pretty sure I'm the reason that no serious-looking cameras are allowed in one extremely nice, bar concert venue at a major casino. I took some photos unofficially for a friend in the band one night. I wasn't stopped, I wasn't hassled. But the next concert I went to there, had prominent signs prohibiting commercial filming or use of professional cameras. I'm not commercial, but I use pro equipment. I guess I spoiled that one place for everyone. A 200mm f/2.0 lens gets noticed, and I knew that. I just thought that because I'd seen all sorts of cameras in the venue before, there was nothing wrong without bringing out the really big glass. I was wrong. THEY ARE COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHERS, using pro equipment, photographing in a private venue full of very valuable customers, who value their privacy. Like me, they were just "following fast traffic" and then pulling into the passing lane. Their being told to stop taking commercial video, is not the end of the world. Everyone being told to stop taking commercial video is not the end of the world. Someone was bound to be the straw that broke the camel's back and started a crackdown. They should be embarrassed, not pissed off, that they were the ones spoiling it for all social media moguls. They would get thrown out of almost every indoor concert venue I go to, and some outdoor ones, with that camera, almost regardless of what lens they put on it. Maybe a ballgame, maybe not. Probably would get a tap on the shoulder at a social event, a business event they weren't invited to, a hospital waiting room. Very likely any expensive restaurant, if they photograph any customer. Almost surely a country club. They would get bounced from any bar. They would be questioned by police if seen photographing children leaving a daycare with it. A CRUISE SHIP IS ALL OF THE ABOVE. Is what they did that much worse than the average monetized KZfaqr doing the same thing, but with the latest iPhone Pro Max? Technically, no. But what they did was way more stupid, because the iPhone doesn't appear to be a commercial filming operation, even when it actually is. I'm not saying they did anything wrong. But I don't think that MSC did anything wrong, either. They are protecting their venues and public spaces from becoming a commercial photography studio where random Bozos on social media can use their customers as free models and props. They paid for a cruise, not for a studio full of models and extras for their commercial use. First, let's get the situation regarding taking social media videos (even with phone cameras) in national parks fixed. That's a real free speech and journalism issue. This isn't.

They accepted that the cruise line was within its rights, but that the approach from the previously very nice staff was rude and aggressive. Which was unnecessary because they stopped filming immediately as asked. Thank you for you input which is appreciated!

You can see in one shot where they’re filming with both phone and camera and to me, a lay person, the camera looks huge. I appreciate that the camera may not be big to them but if it looked like that to me it probably did to other people as well. And they seem awfully competent with makes them seem more professional too. I’d guess someone in the dining room complained.

@@Janjones7735 Yes, that is possible. I understand that MSC has reached out and offered a refund for the unused portion of the cruise, which is something. And I do definitely believe that Ben and David are very considerate about who they point the cameras at. Thank you for your input.

@@Acreymanyes it’s that bad. My family and I took the Meraviglia from Brooklyn in December and it was awful. The food is awful and I’m not a picky person. I’ve only cruised Carnival. The good was gross. And our room Stuart was wonderful, but some of the service is just bad. I so missed my guy burgers at carnival and even the carnivals dining room food or buffet.

@@Acreymanalso, my mom is wheelchair bound and we were late the first day of dinner. It was hard to find the restaurant and took time for me to get an elevator for my mom. The maître de, yelled at us and insulted us for being late as he took us to some table. Just horrible service.

Even in the US, the first amendment does not apply in a private business. If you are "creating content," that is, making money, any business can tell you to stop or leave.

And too many people do not understand that in the United States, said amendment only applies to government stopping freedom of speech not what private companies do to control on their private property or their employees who represent the company

My wife also cruised on MSC. Her complaints were the food was mediocre at best, (except the pizza), internet was horrible and there were unattended toddlers in the hot tubs.

And restrict them as to what they could see and say. They opted not to be restricted so they could give honest, unbiased reviews.
