Hello Kim👋, I would like to share with you..I DON'T generally subscribe to the suggested videos nor do I watch many at all. I say that to emphasize how much I do appreciate your kind approachability. 1st video, your aliken to a good friend thats setting about a big kitchen table with your gal pals just sewing, chatting away laughing having a wonderful afternoon. While pointing out the lil itsy bitsy things that make a tremendous difference to not only newbies but anyone who enjoys there craft and respects it in every way. And all while NOT letting those itsy bitsy details rob you of the joy of letting your creative genius flow! I enjoyed that you made the important points without making it confusing, undesirable and stressful. I do understand this wasn't a " getting all the points in on a 10point star all w/a perfect scant 1/4" seam ." ☺ I reckon this was my winded way of saying, "I enjoyed you & your approach, Thank You !" 🌺TTNT ( toodles till next time)

Kim, It would be great if you showed something made up with these crumbs. I have grand children that could have a blast doing this sewing. One grand daughter loves to just sew "stuff" together. I'll have to put her to work and I'll even have her do the task on my wonderful M7 or 15000 or S9 - as you can see I love Janome. Cheryl - Saskatoon

Yes, please. Can we see some of your crumb - quilted projects? I have been playing with crumb - quilting using my colour wheel and have amassed some larger pieces and have been thinking of trying to combine them with orphan blocks, leftover HSTs and a couple of paper pieced practice pieces. Just not sure how to approach it yet. And, would like some advice on how to manage all of the seams and intersections. Keep up the good work, Kim, and stay safe.

I had almost stopped sewing until so many folks had covid here and lots of us got together stuff together for these worker's mask........I provided scraps...........and some how I got hooked on making tiny scraps all sewn together......(some call it crumb quilting).......well, well, I made my first little random strips and got totally addicted....each piece is prettier than the previous piece........I have sheets of these about 5x7 inches all the way to 30 inches by about 17 inches......I might use them for fabric making stuffed animals or door stops or bowl covers..........meanwhile, I need a small rack to hang them on as I make them.....about 36 inches tall and not any wider than a tv table.........but much wider, so I can sew, and sew and hang as I go and press................any ideas how I may make or buy this.....???? thanks

@@Chatterboxquilts -- thanks for your reply.......I am looking at some drying racks since this first came to my mind......the rack would have to sit in a narrow space where I sew.......I wondered about using my artist display stand that has a fold out bag.......just wondering, but if I see a drying rack that is old and kinda small, that would be perfect.......thanks for sharing your talents with all of us........

Hello. Very interesting video. I did not k ow about Crumb Quilting. Very interesting. I went to your Amazon page to look for your tools. I could not find the tray or the black mat you used to trim your pieces. Could you tell me where I could find those two items. Thank you for videos and your time. Marsha
@Chatterboxquilts
@Chatterboxquilts 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Marsha: Thanks for watching. The items I'm using are from Martelli Enterprises. The "tray" is part of their roundabout system - a rotating cutting system. It's the top part you are seeing here. The base is separate and there is also a pressing circle that you can get. The black square that I'm using to trim up the blocks is a 6.5" square template from their large square template set that I've used in this video due to its small size (rather than a cutting ruler). Both of these items can be ordered through my affiliate link at bit.ly/martellicode (I will receive a small amount of commission if you order through this link but you will pay the same price). There are currently some excellent sales on their website, including the roundabout system. #affiliatelink

Kim, I enjoyed your video! Thanks for sharing your technique. I use crumbs for "leaders and enders" all the time! (Shout out to Bonnie Hunter of Quiltville - she says, "Why keep sewing over the same scraps for leaders and enders and then throwing them out when they get too thready - just sew two scraps together and before you know it, you have enough for another quilt!) I have lots of crumb pieces and eventually I may cut them into squares for the centers of star blocks. Too many ideas...too little time!

Crumb fabrics are really nice to use in quilt tops. They have an interesting use of color and pattern. BUT please make quilters aware that crumb fabric used on the back of the quilt can create problems for long arm quilters. Fabric with all types of grain lines and very many seams may ripple or seams separate when the back is stretched on a long arm quilting frame. Be kind to your long armer. Expansion panels work fine, it is just that all the the little pieces and their seams are unpredictable when used on The back of the quilt.
@Chatterboxquilts

Good point, Judy! I would never consider using these as a backing, but I suppose that some people might as yes, they would not be a good idea for that purpose at all.
