Cruncher vs. the fence. Post Buddy fence post repair kit

During the recent strong winds our fence took a real beating and all but fell down. I managed to temporarily nail it back into place but one of the posts had rotted out. The plan was to get some friends round, ply them with cider and barbecue food and have a fence post replacement party. While searching KZfaq in the early hours one morning I came across a video that showed how to repair a post without digging it out. It sounded feasible so I went ahead and ordered enough to do 3 posts for when another one rots off. She how I got on.

Great bit of fixing kit that. I have a leaning post in my garden. Makes the whole fence look bad and it will stress the other posts in time. Great tip Graham ☺

Thanks Rich. Easy enough to do if you have a big hammer and cider to hand

Set your posts in concrete that is above soil level. Here in US we have a cardboard tubular product called Sonotube that is perfect for doing that. If you can afford the extra cost, use treated posts. Wood at ground level always fails from rot, damp and insects. In hindsight, you did great. Cheers Graham.

Thanks that sounds feasible. My repair has stood up to some strong winds and hasn’t budged yet but if it fails again then it will be replaced

It`s the Dogs pissing on the posts that rot them if you used a bitumun type paint and paint it 18" above the ground it should delay the rottjng process. Cambridge council spend thousands on metal lamp posts rotted just the same. xx

Bloody hell - it was like an episode of Out Of Town. Jack 'Radiocruncher' Hargreaves. You need a pipe. Next episode - Apple grafting and Mole catching.

Great Job Graham And Expertly Done May I Say !! Got My Blue RP25 Fixed As I Accidentally Connected Batterys The Wrong Way Round And Smoked The OC71 Transistor Between The Output Pair... The Output Pair Survived But i Found That It Is Very Noisey With The Volume Turned Down Have Sent Away To Rapid For Some Caps And Some BC109 Transistors To Replace The Lockfits On The Amp Board Hope This Fixes it Regards mike.

Thanks Mike. Don’t worry I won’t give up the day job 😉. Sorry to hear the issue with the RP25. It’s usually the driver transistors that suffer from accidents so good luck sorting it. If you are stuck for parts let me know. Worth replacing the 2 presets as well.

Hi. In the storms we had earlier this year it split the screws out of the post with the force of the wind. I relocated and fitted longer screws and it’s still holding nicely
