hey y'all, here's a tutorial for playing nomads in ck2, which was always pretty intimidating to me before. let me know if you have any questions!!

little tip: the most broken mechanic of nomads is the "establish tributary state" cb. It forces another nation to pay tribute and you can call them into your wars. And by can I mean that they WILL always answer and actually help in your war. So if you play as a horde try to get a total of 30000 population to unlock the invasion cb and just make all the other nomads your tributaries. Then you can just invade some feudal lords for their kingdom scale titles and revoke all the titles of your new feudal vassals. Your nomad vassals won't care about that. Then once you think you have enough feudal land you can settle as feudal. Fun run ideas: 1.) Khazaria to Anatolia to Israel. 2.) Yabguid/Oghuz to Early Turkey. 3.) Manichean Uighur/Kirghiz to Persia

Dang, I wish I had found your channel when I was first learning CK2. Your tutorials are great, and right-to-the-point.

Before I saw this video I first played Pecheneg Khaganate just to see what the game is about. Playing Nomadic rulers is basically cheating. Here's why: 1. No de jure titles/claims meaning you can conquer whoever you want 2. You can just be a tyrant to all the clans if you're stronger clan and bully them 3. As long as you give them enough land for their clan (I just give them weakest counties) they won't rebel and they'll like u even as a tyrant 4. Rebellions virtually don't exist cause there's no one to rebel in steppes (unless you hold too much land then you might get "a strong clan emereged" event and if you surrender to them you'll just lose one county (and they'll just become ur vassal) so even then it's not a big deal 5. Just raise population and that will increase manpower which will give you A HUGE ARMY of light cavalry and archers that you can use to beat any freaking rules. Srsly...if you just keep clans happy they will always answer the call to war and you can get up to 5k cavalry which is OP! 6. Tactics don't even matter if you have strong commanders (preferably with plain combat and cavalry leader traits and martial 20+) 7. Any nomadic county you conquer automatically changes culture and religion (again this is good cuz there's no rebellions) 8. There's only one real territory you need to defend which is your own capital so you're unable to be defeated if you have a strong enough army to conquer bigger cities.
