I don’t think dogs turn grey when they are old (well not all dogs) I’m not sure

Smaller dogs have longer lifespans so that’s probably why he’s barely getting some gray

Some dogs definitely turn gray later in life. My Simoi dog is just a little bit older than Crusoe. She is the same Black and Tan colorings. A couple of years ago when she was having debilitating back issues she went on steroids among many other medications. Fast forward a year she recovered, thankfully. The brown in her muzzle began to turn grayish white. As the next year went on the black near her tail began to mix with grayish white fur. When we see pictures from over a decade ago of her we realize how much she has changed. We are so thankful to have her in our life. Dachshunds are such great companions.
