China Sends More Warplanes Over Taiwan, Asks New President Lai To "Choose Between War And Peace"

China sent 45 military aircraft and six naval vessels around Taiwan during the past 24-hours, the island’s defence ministry said on May 15. This was the highest single-day number this year and came less than a week before the island inaugurates its new president.
Taipei defence ministry claimed that "twenty-six of the aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait”. The median line bisects the 180km waterway that separates Taiwan from China. The ministry added that it "monitored the situation and responded accordingly."
