Also worth looking into Alpine's package manager, APK. It's the bleeding edge of package management and is significantly faster than the alternatives with only xbps coming close. Honorable mention to Nix and Bedrock as they have really unique approaches to package management.

Arch user here. Partial upgrades like pacman -Sy && pacman -S package are unsupported. Always do a full upgrade instead. Regarding orphans, use pacman -Qtd to list them, and pacman -Qtdq | pacman -Rsn - to remove them.

Thank you for the insightful overview! I noticed "#packman" in the video hashtags. "Packman" is OpenSUSE's repository, not to be confused with "pacman" the package manager for archlinux. edit: there is also eopkg of Solus which is based on PiSi.
