I smiled by 6 months. I also gave eye contact. I did the back and forth gestures by a year. I walked early, at 11 months.

As an Aspie, I’m wondering if my future children will be on the spectrum. I want to know how to care for them, especially when they cry a lot. I cried a lot and stressed my parents. They did well raising me. Are there resources in caring for Autistic children as a parent on the spectrum?

Our neighbor's autistic child, who is about 3-4yrs old, screams often throughout the day, and I tell ya - it's so high pitched it would make a dog's ears bleed. He also runs back & forth for hours

I’m looking this information up. As a caretaker of babies, I heard a difference in their crying. They cried more often too. Like they were trying to tell us, something is wrong. I’m so excited this was proven scientifically. Early detection is best.

My 3 yr old cries so loud in a high pitch jeezzz my older son my husband and me have to cover our ears.

This is ridiculous. Some babies have high pitch cries or screams anyway. I know two of my cousins, now 25 and 28 and not, autistic by any stretch of the imagination had high pitch sharp screaming cries at worst, in fact, I thought they were possessed at times, especially when they worked themselves up to the full blown scream with that pathetic coughing start up sound some babies make. Apparently, I yelled and screamed as a baby and I am one point off Autism, scoring 29/50 in an online Autism screening test.

What ridiculous is the study itself. They said they picked kids with high pitched cries who had siblings with autism. Then from those, only 3 actually had autism. So from a supposedly high risk sample, only 3 have autism. Which means that the majority of high pitched cries were of neurotypical children. So stupid

All babies cries sound high pitch to me but than again I'm not a computer

It's a higher pitch and different quality to the sound than usual this would be due to physical differences in the child's muscle tone and overall development status in womb and birth.. Which me here aspects may not be known till later on.. Eg. Low tone in lip, tongue or throat muscles will affect sound production.And breathing pattern.. It may be related to Autism or a sign to get extra checks to cover other possible conditions to get early detection and treatment/therapy.

If you are really paying attention and listen to lots of different cries, you’ll be able to tell a difference.

I barely started the video, and I already don't like the message they're sending about autism! It's not something to be ashamed or afraid of!

It is good to catch it early so the child can be taught social skills etc to help them cope in life. It could also help them catch girls who are severely under diagnosed.

@@CrypticMShadow True, but it depends on how you define social skills. It could be actual social skills like respecting other people's personal space, and listening to understand, or it could just be masking, like paying attention to tone of voice, and subtle facial expression and body language without really understanding it.
