One of the greatest Blues Rock acts to ever grace this planet! Comparisons are not really indicated, but the best parts of early FREE come to mind, and Audley Freed will always be in a class all his own.

Being a big rock star is as much about luck as it is talent. These guys had the goods, and they deserved to be ten times bigger than they were.

Yeah, they should've been around like 20 years earlier. Mid 90's wasn't about rocknroll. So, they had bad luck being a band when they were.

I always gravitate to this clip as it's amazing. I was lucky enough to be in a band that opened up for them in Minot, ND in the summer of 1994. I've always joked, due to lack of live footage that I wish it was in the age of cell phones. I'm not one to video a whole concert as I'd rather enjoy it. But man what I wouldn't give to have that night documented on video. Other than King's X, I can't name a band that touched them live. RIP Kelly.

@@daveg4236 I don't know whether to say "cool".... or "I'm sorry!" lmao! It's funny. I grew up in Bismarck and because of the AF Base, Minot was always more diversified musically. Playing in cover bands was always cooler in Minot than Bismarck. Even though only 105 miles separate them. But because of people from all over the country being stationed there, newer music always seemed relevant there. No club in Bismarck would have ever tried to get Cry of Love to play there. But because the radio stations were better 100 miles away it was way more hip. Not sure that applies today with internet, digital radio and streaming. But back then it was significantly different.

@@daveg4236 They were just slightly ahead of my time (in the bar scene). I graduated in 89. They played a college dance that was in one of the hotel ball rooms. I remember them being great. Such a great band name! :-)

Born in Minot. King's X is my favorite band probably ever. Cry of love is probably top 5. We are similar. I also play but have never opened for my hero. Our band opened for the new 2.0 version of Blackfoot though. Different chapter of a different book there.

I was lucky enough to see them in Baltimore at a place called Hammerjacks. That place was famous! It had all the great acts. Believe me. It was the place to see a band in my days. I saw Cry of Love there and they were incredible. I've seen Cinderella, Dream Theatre, Lynch Mob, Winger, Extreme. Mr. Big, White Lion, Heaven's Edge, and Cry of Love. That's just to name a few that I've seen. And by far, Cry of Love was the best band that I've seen grace that stage.

Penny arcade, Rochester New York. Had my hands on the stage. A bimbo and her boyfriend standing next to me, she says “it’s smoky in here, is it going to be loud?” I was thinking, dude, get her out of here NOW! Cry of love blew the roof off!!! Peace Kelly🙏🏻

They were totally awesome! One critique about the amazing Audley Freed, though? He shoulda been playing a Les Paul during this era--the strat tone he got was just So lacking. I actually think it was a factor that hurt the band. It would be one thing if they had another guitar player there to fill things out? I Love this band, but upon rediscovering them after a few years of not listening, they just remind me of...like, The Black Crowes w No Rich Robinson! :0 PS: Kelly Holland is totally awesome!
