Extremely thorough review. I thought the carrier went over the base vest, but now I see the base vest goes into the carrier. Thank you!

A system that fills in the gaps of plates for little added weight, in a modular manner that can readily break up into two sets of protection is how I believe this system should be advertised. Nothing else like it on the market, yet like you discussed, for some reason it got completely forgotten since release.

We just got a few of these at the shop for deployers. I should be getting a personal one here soon. I think were getting the assault configuration. Once i get my hands on one I'll see about getting you some of the other parts and pieces to try out.

I really wish they'd make a hardwire / hyperline type, ultrathin armor, but contoured like the lvs. Would be the perfect setup for truly concealable body armor.
@EODFish2 жыл бұрын
This is pretty damn concealable.

Great video I never even knew the cover could hold plates. Do you think you need the soft armor to run the tactical cover? Or could you just throw some foam in it and make the most comfy platebag holder ever?
@TerryWhisk2 жыл бұрын
I’ve considered doing this. It would probably work but would still probably have some weird slack but it’s definitely an interesting option.

I intended to give that a shot but never got around to it. I don’t think it would be ideal by a long shot.

How does this compare as far as body heat retention compared to standard plate carrier options? Considering grabbing one of these to replace my plate carrier but wondering if the soft armor is going to make for substantially increased heat retention over my SPC, thanks.

It is hotter. Having worn BALCS a good bit though, it isn’t too bad.

$2000 price tag aside, do you think that the Crye Armor Chassis is obsolete compared to the LVS?

I think it’s a wildly different animal.

With the armor storage frame, could you pack this for travel without the frame? Would that ruin the benefits of the contours of this product? Pretty much the only thing that keeps me from taking the plunge over the low vis velocity systems armor. Thanks for the great review content as always!
@EODFish2 жыл бұрын
It will travel fine without the frame so long as you put two seconds of thought into it.

How well would the base vest conceal under a suit? Been interested in one for work
@EODFish2 жыл бұрын
Exceptionally
@Mindstangle2 жыл бұрын
I use mine under a suit. It has "pec enhancements" (not sure what else to call it). I think it makes me look better than I actually do but on my friends who have tried it on who have much larger pecs it's a bit strange-looking. You could cover with proper tailoring. It's a great vest for IIIA protection, my favorite and I have tried many. A bit sweaty like all body armor in hot weather or extreme physical activity, it is pretty annoying to conceal a vest and a pistol if your work is at all wrestle-y or involves a lot of getting in and out of vehicles, but this one works better than any other I've tried. You will probably definitely want a canted holster, a smaller framed pistol like a G19 if you're of average size, I push my holster a bit past the 3 o'clock which violates my organization's SOP, but it's also a testament to the vest that you can move so much with it on whereas previous vests haven't had this issue because they severely restricted my movement. I have the patrol cut.
@davethrasher41242 жыл бұрын
@@Mindstangle I think I was actually looking at a patrol cut version. I appreciate all the input.
@Alexander-nz1dz2 жыл бұрын
Base vest would conceal extremely well. An issue I’ve run into is if you’re also concealing a firearm, holster rash is a bit more unnerving with the base vest vs having a typical soft armor carrier. Covert carrier would provide a sacrificial layer. Also gives you something to actually wash if it sees constant use. Does kinda defeat the idea of the LVS being ‘its own carrier’ though.
@zprejean2252 жыл бұрын
Thoughts on this with the Tactical Cover vs a dedicated BALCS soft armor carrier (ie First Spear Siege) for every day work? Concealability isnt a concern really, but Im in a soft armor only rig about 90% of the time. Seems like this would be more comfortable and lighter, but would it be well suited in that use?
@EODFish2 жыл бұрын
It’s hard to beat a sleeper if you are working slick but I like this cut more than balcs.
@zprejean2252 жыл бұрын
@@EODFish Thanks bro. I guess Ill give this a go. I dont always run slick, and the ability to run a placard is a definite win. The sleeper was just a bit too low profile for me.
