I'd heard of ''Boat Trains'' of course , but didn't;t realise that the trains actually crossed on the Ferry!

We used to have a headmistress who when it was her turn to take Assembly would make us sing the hymn ''For those in Peril on the Sea'' . There is an old saying: ''If you want to learn to Pray, go to Sea''.

Question from a dumb American here: On one of the other "Interislander" videos I noticed a sign that said "Caution - Radiation Hazard". Are those ships nuclear powered, or is that some other sort of radiation? I believe I saw it up on the Sun Deck, or deck 10. New Zealand is so beautiful--I would love to visit someday! Thank you.

Hi Croc...We dont have nuclear powered ships in nz, that Radiation sign is a warning that nobody should stand anywhere near those radars as you can see them spinning, the high microwave freq coming those radars can do damage to your brain cells....hope that explain your Question...

Hi CrocDoc1, no these ships certainly aren't nuclear powered, and in fact nuclear ships have been banned from New Zealand territorial waters since 1987. These ferries run on heavy marine fuel oil. The signs you saw warn against getting too close to the ship's radar and communications equipment which is all located near the upper deck.

@@wheelbarrow01 That makes sense. Thank you.
