Who remembers the days of Kenyatta college, Kenya Science teachers college, Kenya polytechnic, Egerton agricultural college etc. Those who went through these institutions have tales to tell. They all became sacrifial Lambs for universities.

I have taught in the university for over 15 years,with excellent performance yet was forced out due to tribalism...universities are losing their best faculty,while at the same time compromising on quality...what a shame...I fully support you Prof.Magoha in injecting sanity in these ivory towers gone rogue

I attended Chuka University. Faculty of Computer Science and Technology has more than 20 staff and only 2 come from other regions. By the time I was admitted in 2013, all staff members were from Meru community.

Where i stay we have only one university in over 20 yrs but i think the numbers of students have increased.Ooh gosh wish i had discovered this guy earlier he is of a kind.

Commercialization of education. Aggressive advertising, marketing and sales promotion. Busy training laborers and nothing else. Our products job seekers.

Our universities and engineers would have been the ones contracted to to build the SGR. dams and other infrastructure project in Kenya and across Africa.

I like it when you ask whether the definition of University changed prof? However, Politics and Governance is a fundamental factor: It is apparent that Politics deals with allocation and distribution of resources to a people citizens, Universities deals with allocation and distribution of Knowledge to a people, beyond citizen. The respect of knowledge and access to these resources by a people is not fair and equitable in this country. This determines the demand and supply for education for survival. Prof, let the Employment laws in this country be clear, just and patriotic to the citizens. The laws of economics can not be twisted by dictatorship!!! Ask Why STEM is not attractive !!! No one cares !!!. Just as you posed even the knowledgeable people have ganged up to perpetrate the deep culture of unfairness, inequitable and injustice when it comes to the right of access provided for by virtue of being a citizen. With many years of experience, a fresh PHD graduate cannot be the same as you! He /she need to be given chance to build skills and competence. in addition, you don't expect somebody else to know something exactly the way you know it, and present it exactly the way you want it!

Every time we look at national problems objectively and cast politics and tribalism aside, we must find solutions. The only problem is that objectivity in this country is so short lived. Today you hear reason from a person because he is outside the political circles, he gets elected and before you realise it, he replaces his brain and begins to reason like a tribesman.

I am not an expert in academia but I have been observing your style, Magoha. Sure, you are excellent at what you do, but you will NOT succeed if you dont learn to engage stakeholders better. You know the reason why the VCs didnt attend your meeting. Address it smartly. And STOP using words like 'stupid' and other condescending language, or you might find you are mostly preaching to yourself.
