Its nothing like this, cse cse(spec) and IT are very similar with 70-80 percent same course, so if you have good skills then you will get the placement, and in tier 1/2 colleges there's no major difference in the placements of these branches as almost all companies allow students of these branches in their placement drives

Am a diploma in automobile engineer and now going to pursue btech in CSE..Because it’ll provide me ample opportunities with various roles, whereas opting to a specialisation is also good option but only when you’re passionate about that stuff and not rolling through Trends. So choose wisely, it’s about 3yrs of your life.
