I was first acquainted with C.S. Lewis, as a child, early sixties, the Narnia series, and never knew of his deep theological mind and faith. I believed in God, the Creator, as a boy, because I saw intelligent design in everything in nature, and the way people did things. I came to God after time overseas, in the eighties, and have never turned back. I've been astonished, and greatly blessed, educated, by a good number in the last couple weeks. He is a brilliant man, and great philosopher, excellent apologist. He has truly expanded my thinking, and reasoning, my faith.

I love the analogy of mankind needing to trust in God with a child with a thorn in its finger needing to trust in their benevolent parent in order to fix the problem.

That’s an excellent illustration. It’s as if we outgrow Mom and Dad only to find that we’re still under the roof of God who is the ultimate parent and Father.

Magic is not real. I see no reason why adults need or benefit from pausing reality in the case for God or their supernatural claims.

@@IHateThisHandleSystem This would b those of religion & spirituality that u speak of. They & only they claim to know everything. Science & the rest of us r humbled by nature, we openly admit we do not know. When we do, the religious & the spiritual say ‘We know, we r certain it is God.’ One example that makes the point, ‘What comes before the Big Bang?’. Science & atheists answer, ‘I dont know.’ The religious, those who claim to b spiritual, those who have faith say, ‘God’. Im sorry that I stepped on ur ego by suggesting there is no objective evidence to believe we know everything. At least not anymore than lets say for unicorns? Leprechauns?? This does not make me a know it all, just the opposite to b exact.

@@friedricengravy6646 If you make the claim that there is no God, then you are claiming to have knowledge of things that exist outside of this universe... that would be acting as a "know-it-all". Christians don't claim to have knowledge of this either, just the opposite, they have faith.

I honestly think even in the thought of one's own self going to hell there might be a sort of wishful thinking, to paraphrase Lewis in the pilgrims regress, it's one thing to try to get a splinter out of your own finger because if worse comes to worse you could always give up and let it sit there and put up with the pain, but it's another thing to let someone else fiddle with it and take it out and hurt it as much as he sees fit. Maybe there's something a wickedly comforting about the idea of slinking back into the bus from the great divorce to retreat back to hell to wallow and stew and be a wretched little sinner compared with the idea that we each have an inescapable devine destiny to become holy, sanctified, glorified sons of God.

@@mavisemberson8737 The countries with the highest Cv vaccination rates are the ones with the highest infections, hospitalisations and death rates. In the Uk there have been more than 1700 officlaly recorded deaths and 1.2 million adverse events. The fact that the majority of doctors and scientists have said nothing confirms my hypothesis. They are as venal as the worst ones depicted by Lewis in his sci-fi trilogy.

@@proudhon100 Perhaps your hypothesis was faulty in the first place.and perhaps your correlation is not proof of causation... and just perhaps the scientists say nothing for that reason. Can you prove your hypothesis?

@@mavisemberson8737 I repeat, the countries with the highets vaccination rates have the higest numbers of cases and deaths. Those - like Burundi - with almost no vaccinations, have the lowest number of covid deaths. Pharmaceutical companies need to show that their poisonous potions are not causing this since the link and the causation is obvious. You only refuse to accept this if your mind has been poisoned by the propaganda spewed by the television and the mass media. Lewis would say that you are suffering from scientism.
