Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is an allegory about the seven cardinal sins. One of which is gluttony, represented by Augustus Gloop. Trying to undo that by removing a single word is facile.

If it bugs you write a new book, don’t go around changing books that have already been written… if it bugs you keep the books the same as an example of “what not to do” learn from history and don’t change it… I swear

Makes one wonder how many old texts have been altered to accommodate the issues of the time...

Removing the "offensive" words will not fix the problem. It will not make an idealised society. It will just make children go after material that is more offensive. Remember kids watching South Park? A show aimed at 18+. That actually happened. Fortunately for me I own Dahl's original texts.

I was upset when they removed Dame Slap from the Beatrice Potter novels. Next we'll be editing Uncle Tom's Cabin to be politically correct and removing all historic references to anything that upsets today's generation of snowflakes. :(

Don’t worry, pretty much every kid in my school hates the politically charged books they promote. (I’m in Toronto)
