This is the first video where I've truly gotten the sense that you've decided wholeheartedly to get on with living your best life. Paul, you look so much healthier and happier than I ever remember seeing you in the past. Your attitude has undergone a decided shift. You sound positive and upbeat. It is absolutely wonderful to see this in you. I think I speak for all your viewers when I say this is what we've all been hoping would happen. You have decided to get busy living, and it shows. It's a brand new day, and one to be celebrated! We are all so happy for you. It has been a grueling and traumatic journey for you up until now. It's time to enjoy your life again. You’re an inspiration for me Paul. I had major (6.5 hours) surgery in February as a result of the cancer I have. I’m 75 & feel it’s taking so long to fully recover. I see you now, going strong & it reminds me that it just takes time. You’re doing great.

Paul, as a fellow ostomate, I would recommend that if you're going to be working on the car, look into getting a stoma hernia belt. This will protect your stoma and support your abdomen to hopefully prevent a parastoma hernia. You don't want to deal with one of those! Contact your stoma nurse for assistance as these are usually custom-fitted to the patient and covered by your healthcare plan. Pro tip! ❤

Thanks for the reminder Paul to get out of the bed and get out in the sun. I am one of the those persone who is bedbound much of the time. My husband and I recently moved to North Carolina where it is very sunny a good bit of the year. So, my husband has been helping me get out into our backyard to soak up some sun. I can't go everyday, but trying for every other day. Some days I can only stay out of bed for a few minutes, but some days, I can stay outside for a few hours. My husband bought me a zero-gravity lounge chair, and it is what has made it possible for me to sit out in the sun. So, to everyone else out there who has mobility and health problems, do try to get outside and sit in the sun for a while. It'll make you feel much better.

@@youvegotthis7100 I truly do. When I can get out in the sun, I feel better physically and, especially, mentally. When I first became ill many years ago, one of my specialist doctors told me to travel to a warm beach as often as we possibly could as he felt the warmth and the sun itself would have a beneficial effect on my illness and my pain. And, it certainly does help. Another experience I have discovered that helps a lot is to go soak in a natural hot spring pool. There was a couple within a days drive of Seattle, WA where we lived. My husband took me as often as he could. It felt so good to soak up those wonderfully warm mineral waters. So, if anyone suffers from nerve pain or circulatory issues, see if you can find a natural hot springs to go soak in. If you are able to get in and out of a bathtub, try soaking in some Epsom Salts dissolved in as warm of water as you can tolerate. Hope this helps someone.

Who besides myself is so overjoyed to see what is undeniably Paul's "emotional " recovery? That smile, that twinkle, that eagerness to get back to living. I couldn't be happier if it was my own child! Now Paul, since you seem so eager to plunder around in old junk yards etc (like the GUY you are) does there exist some sort of protective garment or something to protect the area of the stoma? Am thinking like bullet proof vest...but of course that's too restrictive...AND my instinct for overkill in protecting you. If anyone of your devoted followers has a good idea, please jump on and share. (Ann)❤

Aha!! NOW I understand why you've been so much happier: chocolate!! 😉 That's the "secret cure-all" for depression, PMS and bad break-ups! In all seriousness, you seem to be doing SO much better & I'm hopeful that your words of encouragement for your bed-bound/ housebound members will inspire them to do any little thing they can, to get up and outside for a bit! Praying for you to have a great scan result. I know the car will be fun and challenging; protect your core please, and don't get discouraged if you can't manage it all ,because there was a time (not long ago) when you weren't sure you'd even get out of the hospital!! Any victory, is still a victory. Enjoy the challenge & celebrate your amazing "comeback"!! You might need an Elvis T-shirt, Paul, a tribute to the King of comebacks... you're right up there. 👍

I love that you are focused on living now Paul. It’s so important for your mental health. My 91 year old momma lives with us now as she’s starting to have issues with balance and walking. She also had a bit of dementia. She always talks about dying “soon” but I always suggest that she “live” before she dies. I’m sure it’s unsettling for her to always think of that so we try to keep it positive. We take her out to eat, for long rides in the country, introducing her to new people, volunteering at the soup kitchen, and more. I am hopeful those little things give her a break from thinking of death all the time. I hope that makes sense.

So happy to see you smiling and living! My boyfriend had cancer over a year ago. It was such a slog, physically and emotionally. He's just now starting to have more energy. You keep living and enjoying yourself! Have a little chocolate here and there. You've earned it. ❤

I have to say, you look the best I've ever seen you. Live, do the things you still have interests in, and stay positive. You're very inspirational in your approach to illness. Dear Paul, please don't omit chocolate if it makes you happy! Portion size might be good for all foods and treats if you choose to do this. A little of what you fancy does you no harm but remember too much of a good thing is wonderful! It's great to see you so upbeat, and no one deserves happiness like you right now! You definitely look and sound fit. My 48-yo sister with Stage 3C ovarian cancer is going in tomorrow for her second of three chemo rounds. She has good days and bad days. Mostly stays in bed. Occasionally goes out to the grocery store or a restaurant with her husband. Her initial surgery and chemo treatment last year were unsuccessful in stopping the cancer. The immunotherapy treatment she received this year (Keytruda) failed as well. Her latest PET scan revealed more cancer in her lymph nodes and possibly her lung. Good luck with your continued progress Paul.

Those bags are quite good. Live your life with your ostomy it shouldn’t hold you back. Glad you are doing so well! You are like a new person. Do be careful about lifting anything heavy so you don’t get a hernia. People like us that have had abdominal surgeries are at risk for hernias

I wish you all the best Paul! I’m 6 years out from lung cancer treatment and in remission but not NED yet. I love that you tell people they need to move! I also have a bad spine (5 surgeries) severe back pain and neuropathy. As much as it hurts, I try to do a bit everyday and get outside. It’s the best medicine! Hugs from FL! ❤

Hi, Paul. Re the car, fantastic. A really great project, that will stretch you both mentally and physically. You must be so excited to start! Good luck with it and enjoy. You look and sound so buoyant/well and the weight gain sits well on you. Don't go without chocolate though, (eating is one of life's great pleasures) just limit your intake. Make it a treat and yes, to echo the comment, dark chocolate is better for us, with good antioxidant properties. That's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it!! 😊 All best wishes to you and to Caroline. Hi Paul Oh wow looking and sounding soo good. Fantastic to hear getting outside more and getting back to your old hobby on cars.
