In this video, Amanda performs her version of Cu Ti Lu Dissi, (Who Ever Told You). Her translation of this song is part of a Fulbright project sponsored and endorsed by the US State Department and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to translate and revitalize Sicilian folk songs. Sicilian is on the UNESCO list of endangered languages.

I absolutely love how you've taken our ancient musical traditions and given the english speaking sicilians , my chilren in particular ,a translation , to better understand and embrace their roots ,thank you !

There is no such a thing as English speaking Sicilians. Sicilians speak Sicilian, if they don’t they are not Sicilian. Plain and simple.

@@Al-ho1oo you have a valid point. The tongue should be preserved. yet if you yourself are sicilian and you just spoke English, where do we go from here? Come on guy don’t contradict yourself trying to insult someone who’s clearly being grateful for a small bridge across the ocean. People can speak more than one language as you’ve just demonstrated. Doesn’t make you any more or less.

And you're right , duvemmu manteniri la nostra lingua , le nostri radici e la nostra cultura , but because my kids grew up more americanised , these songs are excellent , so i thank her in english ! My Rosa grew up listening to rosa balistreri , and then alessandra salerno , she does understand the sicilian in these songs, but when outsiders ask her why she likes this music , now she can show them why as opposed to just explaining...thank you for supporting me against that ridiculous statement

I cant count how often I have seen the reel on instagram. I love your version of the song. Just like the original it sounds so beautiful and the lyrics bring out the emotions. The first time I heard it I cried. I really hope this will be on Spotify soon. Best of wishes :D
