CUB CADET MOWER STARTER SOLENOID REPLACEMENT

I WAS HEARING A CLICKING SOUND WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START MY MOWER. SO AFTER A BYPASS TEST I DIAGNOSED WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND THIS VIDEO SHOWS HOW I FIXED IT

Thanks man...been struggling with my dads mower. Which almost the same as yours. Itll fire but i crossed wires somewhere..thus helps but i still have to investigate.

Could you use a bolt and pressure washer and nut, inserting the bolt thru the front.

Newbie question as far as electricity and mower issues, but how does using the screwdriver to bypass the solenoid not zap you as well? Having an issue with my cub cadet where I turn the key but get nothing no clicks no noise and trying to narrow down the problem

Screwdriver handle is insulated and doesn't conduct electricity..

Greg on my starter solenoid, the green wire was on the right terminal ?? does this matter ?? XT1 cub cadet riding mower.

I'm getting it to turn over even when the key is not in the on position. Any idea what that means?

Correction: what I did was to drill the thread hole a bit larger and inserted a bolt from behind and then apply a pressure washer and a wing nut.

Ok, i have Cub cadet riding mower. 46 inch XT1 bought in 2017. I installed new battery in May 2017, 250 amps. I replaced battery because the starter has a hard time turning over the engine. I have to 'hit' the starter about 6 times before the starter will turn over the engine. I hear a hum noise under the seat area when the starter is trying to turn over the engine, could this be the solenoid ??

If everytime you turn the key it turns over then it is not your solenoid.. that could be your starter may want to have a shop look at it

@@gregpowell870 when I hit the key, the motor try's to turn over but won't, until I hit the key about 6 times. I hear a hum noise under the seat when the motor is trying to turn over. I just installed a new starter solenoid, it turns over a little better, but still have to hit the key about 3 times then it will turn over and start. Do I need a new starter. 45 hrs on the engine.

Lj Johnson it’s hard to diagnose over messages but if it’s turning over it’s not your starter either.. could be time for tune up or compression could be off

@@elayhohnson2536 I had same issue. CubCadet has a 3rd generation starter now. I replaced mine and it started instantly. If you research it, the original starter draws to much current making cranking over hard.

When I try to start my the starter makes a hissing sound almost like it’s stuck

Could be.. you can find them on the internet or if you have a local starter/alternator rebuild shop you can take it there

How can you test the solenoid with no one seating in the seat !!!

If you are trying to start it and it doesn't do anything while sitting on the seat. It can only be a safety sensor, solenoid, key switch or the starter... so if you get a screw driver and bypass the solenoid like in the video and it starts then you problem can only be the solenoid or the key switch.. Since the key switch is less common your problem is most likely the solenoid.. they are cheap I think you can even find them in home depot.. hope this helps..post a reply if it does
