Flying Formation in Cubs & Touring the Orbis Flying Eye Hospital in an MD-10 at AirVenture. Proudly associated with ForeFlight: www.foreflight.com/flightchops
In this episode we’re flying a formation flight just outside of #AirVenture in Carbon Cubs and take a tour of the Orbis #Flying Eye Hospital at the #AirShow. It’s located inside a fully-upgraded retrofitted MD-10 and runs autonomous of the aircraft itself, with all its own support systems.
To learn more about Orbis, or to donate, visit:

Special thanks to Chip from SWT Aviation for the Carbon Cub experience. If you attend AirVenture and are interested in back country and tailwheel #Flying should check out CubCrafters static display at the event, and/or visit Chip’s site:

FLIGHT CHOPS DISCLAIMER:
I am a "weekend warrior" private pilot, I fly for fun with no intentions of going commercial. I have had my PPL for over 15 years, but still consider each flight a learning experience - I generally take detailed notes after each flight to remind myself what went well or what I could do to improve.... Having GoPro cameras to record flights like this is invaluable. I find these self analysis videos very helpful in my constant quest to improve, and am happy to share. Feedback is invited; however, please keep it positive.

I did my commercial multi engine add on with a retired FedEx pilot who flew the Orbis plane for 4 years. He had some great stories

I feel like I got to this late; busy making my own video (you know what that's like). Fun watching Thad have fun. Seeing him in the Chipmunk brought back a lot of great memories... and can't wait till someone is getting some formation photos of my aircraft. That Orbis Flying Eye Hospital is fantastic. Love the concept of a "hospital on a pallet", and amazing systems on board. Phase 1 continues; almost halfway there; still dealing with minor squawks, but she does love to fly. Still have so much to learn. Although flying to OSH this year still feels like a fantasy, I inch closer to the possibility every day.

Superb! I really liked the Orbis hospital. It reminded me of my first OR job back in 1979.

I was amazed to find that the USAAF had TigerMoth primary trainers in WW2. Presumably these were built in Canada. I believe they were called PT-24s. I spotted this in the Fahey "U.S. Army A/C 1909-47."

Great video, Steve. I'm sure that Thad truly enjoyed that, and I'm glad he was able to get his PPL. Next thing will be seeing him get his Instrument rating.

Super video Steve - love the formation footage - very cool. Hospital jet very impressive (must have cost a fortune to upgrade and equip) - wonderful facility. Fly safe.

That's a hell of a thankyou, sounds like it was well deserved though. The Orbis Flying Eye hospital is an incredible thing, and making the whole thing cargo is a work of genius.

You bet! That initial RV-14 aerobatic content is coming when I can focus on the fairly complex edit - likely late summer after AirVenture.

So nice to see a newer pilot like Thad and his impressions and learning curve with the cub or that smile after the loop in the chippy. Very identifiable and so clear to see his joy of being in the air.
