5 Tips for a Great Electric Bass Sound | Cubase Secrets with Dom

Want to get a great electric bass sound? Let Dom Sigalas show you how to make your electric bass sound great in this video of tips for producing with Cubase. Bass is the foundation of most music production, so mixing and producing an electric bass well is fundamentally important. To get consistent bass, Dom shows you how to use compression, EQ, saturation and the VST Bass amp for enhancing the sound dynamics, then tightening bass rhythmically by quantising, manual editing and cleaning up the recording. Dom’s final music production technique for how to properly mix a bass in your song is to duplicate the bass line with sub bass.

Hello. I have been driving myself crazy trying to figure out what makes a bass mix so well with some of my favorite music. So I have decided to research that for bit. I came across this video and I'm not even halfway through and after applying only some of the changes that you've suggested, I'm already noticing a major difference in not only the sound of my fat 5 string active bass, but also in the overall mix of my project. Dom! This was awesome! I spent hours zooming right in looking for the zero spot so I had no clicks and pops! My jaw literally fell open when you explained the "snap to zero" function. Dom, at the end of the video you showed very important thing with extracting midi notes from the bass. I want to do same with distorted guitar (to thicken it up with piano on some notes). The problem is when I do exactly the same thing with extracting midi from distorted guitar it always gives unusable midi notes which are all over the place. Can you please please make a video how to extract midi notes from heavy distorted guitar track? Thank you soooo much Dom.

if the guitar is played with more then one note at a time(intervals chords etc...) vari-audio will not detect it correctly . Vari-audio can detect only monophonic audio sources

Let's say I made a bass guitar track and I can't get it to match the volume of a drum track I created no matter how hard I tried the drum track is just way too loud what do I do
