You don't have to hug them and hold them 24/7, what you've done with them is perfect. People forget that they're still wild animals and you need to earn their trust which you obviously have.

well they're definitely not wild animals, they've been domesticated for centuries, but their natural instincts are still very much intact, unlike most domesticated animals.

@@XTCYDVL you're correct, perhaps I should have worded it differently. Our dogs are wild animals but they have the luxury of thousands of years of domestication whereas piggies only have a handful of years sitting on our laps. Their natural instincts to flee and be weary of things is still very strong.

@@janetgreenslade9281 so you think because you pluck an animal from the "wild" and plop it in your lap it's somehow instantly domesticated? Try that with a lion, I'll wait right here. The fact is domestication of animals takes thousands of years. Guinea pigs still have very strong "wild" instincts. Just because you can buy it in a pet store doesn't mean it's not still a wild animal, they're considered exotic for a reason.

I like your way of taming your piggies. No piggy wants forced attention, they need to feel secure and have the freedom to approach human on their terms. Kudos for giving piggies time to trust you.

I love it when they grab their food and run off. Our Shadow is a cheeky little Sow though. She runs off with a piece, ‘hides’ it in a tunnel or hidey then comes back as if she hadn’t got one yet 🤣

Watching your videos has made me remember - fondly - the guinea pig I had as a child (I think I was 5 or so). She was a uniform light brown, and her name was Pia. She came with us when we went on vacation, and I have a pic of her cuddling with me. She never bit me or misbehaved in any way; my brother had one as well, and we used to take them out with us so they could graze and run around a bit. I forget what happened to Pia (this was some 60 years ago, so I might be excused...) I still like guinea pigs, though I am not into having pets at all these days :) Great videos stirring good memories ;)

I do it the same way! I sit on the floor, and the guinea pigs climb on me, jump on me and eat treats. They run around me, use my jacket as a hidey and just love being around me. It's always lots of fun for everyone. They don't really like being pet, but sometimes I am allowed to pet them after I gave them food! Usually I'm happy with booping their nose though. Some of my guinea pigs come from a bad place, so earning their trust is probably my biggest accomplishment yet! It makes me happy to see how happy they are.

Our kids had guinea pigs. I used to put a brick under their coop so they could run around the lawn. They would tear around and jump and chase each other. I love their little chatter

One of my piggies, Paddington, loves sitting on my shoulder when I sit down. As soon as he hears my phone, he turns around to watch what's on my screen and merrily squeeks along

When the pea flakes go hard, it's easy to soften them. Put a SMALL strip of slightly dampened paper towel in the plastic box. I mean just a few drops of water on the paper. It will migrate to the whole container in a day or so. Again, just a few drops for the whole box, you can always add more later. It doesn't take much so don't over do it.

Your reaction to finding the forage tub reminded me of last weekend when I opened up a "forgotten" box in my storage unit and found my "rollable" sky blue cowboy-style sun hat, my 50-count box of face masks (for bad allergy days then -- and now for bad virus days), two little ceramic candy jars (with lids) that used to match my office decor, and two tubes of butterscotch lip balm, all of which had been "lost" since the last time my workplace moved office.

Mine absolutely love cuddling, I'm pretty sure they could probably stay in my arms all day if they could because they will just get comfortable and lay there as long as I let them even if theres a way out (which I usually give them so that they can run and hide if they feel spooked)

And for anyone thinking he might just be scared and freezing, given that he has shown every other type of trust a guinea pig can show under the sun, from not being scared when I approach, to just straight up "oh yeah this exposed spot out in the open is the perfect place to sleep, let me sleep with eyes closed as well"

We have 3 Female Piggies! Oreo our Senior and Peanut and Reese's 3 years of age. They hate floor time. So I take them out every 3 months for Bath, Health Checks and Nail Trimmings in between when needed! It seems to work. Our Senior Oreo has Ovarian Cancer and has become very skinny but eats well and still comes to the cage to Kiss us and to receive treats! Vitamin C, Oxbow C Tabs Urine Tabs Foliage too! They are Happy for the little time out verses when I use to allow them to run our Kitchen Floor. We all try to accommodate our Piggies and what best for one, may not be for the other. We feel them out. Thank You for sharing! We Love You all here in Massachusetts! Lumi is my favorite!

I really enjoy lap time and cuddles with my piggies. However, I never force contact on them either....always has to be on their terms and what they're comfortable with. Fitz is really settling in well. Such a lovely herd 💖

I’m lucky because I have two cuddle bugs. One Rex, one Abyssinian. My Rex loves being snuggles most of the time, but every now and then she gets in a mood and runs, so I let her. My Abyssinian is very similar, but she’s much more skittish around other people. If I scoop her up and put her in someone’s arms, she snuggles in until I come close enough to smell. They both snuggle in, lay down, and actually purr. I know it’s specific and based on body language. The Rex even yawns every few days! But I do make sure to give them their space when they want it :)

Babies are too cool! Literally born with hair, eyes open and within seconds too minutes are running around and squeeking! Lol I breed them for a few years, different colors etc. Better than hamsters etc for kids! Rarely bite unless fighting over a female, imagine that. Lol I miss them.

All your videos are awesome!!! Great work, I love guinea pigs! My favorites of your guinea pigs are Nugget and Louie (sorry I don't know how to spell Louie's name), Louie because she/he is really cute and so fuzzy and small! And Nugget because she (or maybe a he, but I think a she) is very adventurous and mischievous, and hilarious, like in the video "ran out of guinea pig treats!!" You were like, "Nugget, it's not THAT bad! Treats will be here in a few days. Nugget: "sooo, like in five mins? Ok, Nugget will wait. 5 mins over. Can Nugget have treat now?". 🤣😂

I should do floor time with my piggies again. But not until I can get a fence or something......last time I did floor time he went under the bed....luring him out with a carrot attached to a string kind of worked but ultimately failed..... I eventually nabbed him but it was existing to say the least. Each of my piggies only likes being held for maybe 8 mins and then they wanna be put back. One piggie let's me know gently while the other is kind of rude about it...... But I love them both regardless
