This is a new technique for me and very interesting. Will you post of video where you add the color? Is it regular glaze or underglaze? Do you use a brush or bottle to apply the color?

I have posted a glazing video for this technique..hope you like it, if you have any more questions please ask away.xx

I wanted a grey wax resist. So I mixed some grey/taupe mason stain and gerstley borate with a slight amount of water and added this to my purchased wax resist. As I continued to work on my tiles with underglazes the wax resist started chipping off the bisque tile. Where did I go wrong?

Hi Julia, thank you for your video's, they are very helpful! I do have a question, do you mix the black wax yourself or did you buy it? I have some trouble finding a good resistant that stays on after firing. Thank you!

Thank you!! Your words are very appreciated.. I mix the wax myself, just using different combinations of oxides.. they create a lovely metallic finish to them.. but you could use any colour, doesnt have to be black. You can also use a stain mixed in with the wax, it works well, but you need quite a lot of it to get a dark finish, and the result is much more flat. Depends what finish you are after..😊 hope this helps..xx

@@juliamugnaiceramics6352 I was thinking that we should use some kind of vegetable oil not wax.

Hello from South Africa. Great video with plenty useful tips. What is the bottle called that your wax is in - I want to try and find one here.

Hi!!! 😀 thank you so much for your comment! I actually just buy these squeezy bottles from Amazon...I've never found them elsewhere around where I live..I will send you a picture so you can try and find them somewhere...if you look online, just google "squeezy bottles with metal nozzle"... Hope this helps! However if you cant find them straight away, I also posted a video not so long ago, the same technique but using a paintbrush...it works really well too. Some people find it easier to start with..🙂

I mix my wax with oxides, like cobalt, copper and manganese...
@vaniaarteira3692 жыл бұрын
Hi Julia, thanks for sharing your knowledge. Can you tell me how to make this wax? Is it liquid or you melt. Does liquid wax when it cools not harden immediately? Mix with manganese oxide? After that does the burning does not disappear? Could you show a finished piece? Thanks. Hugs

Hi!! I buy plain liquid wax that you can get from any pottery supplier. I then add my pigments. You can use any oxide or even underglaze if you wanted. I prefer oxides, and I normally use a mix of cobalt oxide,coppper oxide and manganese dioxide. But if you want pure black then use black iron oxide. The mix is approx 1 part of cobalt, 2 parts copper and 2 parts manganese and after adding water to make it into a paste, you add the same amount of wax again... but trial and error will get you the exact finish you want. Hope this helps.xx

Thank you for sharing! I do believe it's more difficult then it seems.May I ask how to mix the black wax precisely? What glazes do you use?
