Cuktech btw, small typo in the title and description. I am using this model for a few weeks now and I am really impressed with it. It can deliver 100W PD from 100 to 0% nonstop. Many powerbank begin to throttle at a certain point, not this one. Fully charged at 40 minutes is great too. And, the most notable thing: it's the only one with Xiaomis HyperCharge and can charge my 13T Pro in 19 minutes. Good stuff and imho the selling point of this and other Cuktech models.

For anyone curious as to why they are named "cuktech" is because their name is based on the Serbian-Croat electrical engineer "Slobodan Cuk" he famously invented the Cuk converter which is a switched mode dc-dc converter. Also cuktechs now founding engineer worked at xiaomi and they merged with zmi corp back in 2021 or 2022. Cuk tech were/and an oem for chargers of many companies like huawei, xiaomi etc. They recently started to make their own stuff Their chargers are quite highly rated in china, there is this lad on youtube who does breakdown of chargers and see whats inside he rates them quite highly too. Hope the weird name comes to context. Sorry for the history lesson on some random brand😅

I like that they write the rated battery rating on the box. Many power bank manufacturers hide this. This product's rated capacity is 5500mah. So It can charge S24U 0 to 100 only once. I haven't researched it, but they should also release higher capacity versions if they don't already exist. Edited: I just found out It has 20000 version too.

Impressive? Yeah ok... If you however think about the power capabilities of power tool batteries, you put things into perspective. Power tool batteries can output up to 600-700 watts of power. In order to do that, you need 30-35A rated cells... So when we bring that to the table, you actually just need to put 4-5 of these cells in a box, add the PCB and you get yourself the impressive powerbank. Now getting these 4 cells to output 20 Volts 6 Amps, well idk if it's easy, but if they are 5 cells, it really is. 4 cells easily gives us the required volume, 5 cell doesn't... So I'm wondering if this has 18650 cells inside or pouch lithium batteries. With pouch style batteries, small factors are very easy to achieve. All in all, not a technological marvel for me. I have built DIY 100W PD power banks with a capacity of 35000mAh and not being that much bigger than this one. Just +40-60% more volume. Ok, I just visited their site. Just 4* 21700 cells, yeah... very easy to build once you got the PCB... What's its price? 70-80 euros? 90 even? Unless you realy have a specific need for a VERY small (in capacity) 120W power bank, there are similarly priced units out there with double the capacity and not that much more volume... (not to mention that you can even go the semi DIY route (purchase a battery case/powerbank) and get them even cheaper (or if you are like me, full DIY for as low as 45€ for a 50.000mAh 100W powerbank :D yeah... )
@zodiacfml
@zodiacfml 2 ай бұрын
four 2170 cells at 10000mah is weird. that's like 2500mah for each 2170 cell which I have never seen before. But yeah, I don't need the speed on a powerbank. 10000mah is just about the sweet spot for me for device size vs capacity and cost. I could buy a reputable brand 2170 4000mah cell for $2 each and $0.19 for the cheapest USB-C charger or $1.2 for a board with USB-A and micro usb ports.
@FishFish1995
@FishFish1995 2 ай бұрын
@@zodiacfmlI was thinking the same thing (btw, I'm the same dude that's written the original comment, just from a different account). 2500 mAh is a very strange capacity. There are three possible scenarios: 1. There might be a 21700 cell with just 2500mAh capacity that we don't know of. (I am sceptical... ) 2. They are using higher capacity cells, but take into account the conversion loss (efficiency) and tell us the final capacity. (If there were 5 cells inside, I would say "no way", but with 4 cells, you need to step up from 16.8 or even 12V up to 20V. Stepping up such a difference and at this high of a current is very inefficient. So they might just did that. If this scenario is true, I believe they just used some 3000mAh Samsung cells capable of 5A charging and 30A discharging. 3. 90W of charging is a bit much... It's 22.5W per cell. From a very quick search yesterday, I found that Samsung cell that could do 5A charging and noted in the specs "not for longevity". So they just state a smaller capacity and don't charge/discharge the cells 0-100%, but rather 5-95% in order to somehow keep them running... I personally think is a combination of scenario 2 and 3. Most powerbanks on the market (from any brand) are 80-85% efficient. A 15-20% loss is always expected. However, since they need such a big boost in voltage, their efficiency is way lower than that... They are 75-80% efficient... The goal is to match other power banks of similar capacity, so a 4*3000mAh (12000mah) powerbank with 75-80% efficiency matches a 10000mAh one with better efficiency. All in all, if all this speculation is true, this powerbank isn't a quality product. Yes, it's small, yes it charges fast, but what about longevity? That Samsung cell claims to be able to fast charge at 5A (with stated reduced longevity). What's the nomimal charging current? 0.5C 😅 1.5A is the nomimal... Manufacturing companies do indeed manufacture new cells capable of charging a bit faster, but they also take into account the use cases these cells will mainly be used for. Such as power tool batteries which are really heavily used... With that in mind, they just put these cells in their absolute extremes. They just state a charging current that the cell is actually not comfortable with, but still safe to do so at the expense of longevity. Normal high capacity 21700 cells can charge faster than the recommended 0.4C. But the manufacturer knows that the use case on these are application where fast individual cell charging isn't as necessary as longevity, so they just don't give us a fast charging current. I have charged 18650 cells at +25% current than the max recommended. They didn't get hot, but I know they are ageing a bit faster... Lastly, I'd like to also confirm that someone can get 21700 cells for less than 2€ a piece. For about 1.9€ per cell I'd say, I can get the LG M50LT cell which is really great, but not for 5A charging 🤣 BUT! You can put 10 of these cells in a 5S2P (5 series 2 parallel) configuration and you get yourself a 18V (21V when charged, 15V when discharged) 10Ah pack. This is the 50.000mAh powerbank I was talking about. It has a 0.4C recommend max charging current which is just 2A per cell, but we can kind of stretch it a bit and say that 2.4A is still safe (+20%). It really is... 2.4A*10 cells * 4.2V= 100W. And that's what we should be aiming for. I sincerely believe that these LG cells charging at 2.4A will last way longer thay those others charging at 5A... And they are rated for 1000cycles... And since it's a 5S configuration, you have less losses than the other 4S one... I actually don't like cheap 21700 enclosures... I like PD capabilities and I like 100W of it... There are so many use cases for this kind of power... the power bank becomes a tool for so much more than just charging your phone... You can charge your laptop, you can use it to power a solder, you can power a DC video projector, you can power a modem/router during a power outage and still have internet access. With a boost converter you can even charge you e-bike or e-scooter in a pinch. PD capabilities are very useful... Anyways, I stop my long comment here. And I pretty much agree with yours 😉

It is not the max. power output that counts but the duration it can deliver that power. With a 10.000 mAh battery at an average of 3.8 V and losses, it will only be able to supply 150 Watt for around 10 minutes. Useless.

Max power output is 150W of both ports combined but you're talking about duration of at that rate. Of course it's limited but most people normally charge a phone at say 45W or 90W etc and it can do this once for most phones. For example with my legion go I got about 40% charge and this was around 1 hour runtime but it's not able to fully charge it of course.
