It's not that uncommon, if i remember correctly in og super mario RPG you can get 2 special equipment in monster town for 50 and 100. consecutive Since both items give an insane boost (Armor +50 in all stat and accessory +30 in all stats) , almost everyone was use to timing jump.

They made it MUCH easier for the remake, getting the Super Suit in the original game was one of the hardest achievements in any game, ever, and on Culex? Not a chance.

@@Axemninja It's not the timing window that makes it easier, it's the fact that the original had flashing, hard-to-read animation, ambiguous enemy position, and no shadows to judge when Mario would be coming back down. You basically had to guess the right time to hit the button.

You can always do different kinds of runs. I did the first one in the remake with no armor and it was very fun.

I think the shortest possible turn length would be 5, but you would need to SOMEHOW do 9,999 damage in total almost immediately after taking out all 4 crystals, and I don’t think there is any way to do that much damage.

I guess if you can deal 5k damage in 1 turn (100 super jumps got him 4.4k) you can defeat him in 4 turns, let the crystals revive him then kill him for good

I think you would need amazing RNG with ultra jump out the gates but with Mario all over the place it’s hard to do that.

This is tough because I don’t think super jump does that much. 100 super jumps might net you 3200. (I got 2850 with 88). Ultra is the reason you can get to 4400 I think??

That’s like you just need two (or three?) perfect Super (Ultra?) Jumps on him. Glad this figures it all out for us (and heck, I even wanted to figure it out myself beforehand)! It seems that each enemy has a certain pattern to keep the jumping active, and it doesn’t seem easy (unless you’re lucky enough)! Don’t get me wrong about this; I still knew a certain tactic to get the Super Suit before even finding out myself. This remake (which I totally wasn’t expecting to see the light of day) seems far easier than the original game!

Great stuff, I did the maths, and the Super Jump you did before the Earth Crystal died, I think if you hit that 100, you could've gotten it down to 5 turns. The Ultra you did before having to Royal Syrup got him down to 1866, but with the 100 Ultra's damage right after for 4430, it would've gotten him to 986 So if that Super before Earth Crystal died did at least 986 more HP damage to Culex, it would've been a 5-turn. I'm eager to see it.

Yo i just saw a video of a guy doing mario solo against 3d culex. He did both versions: 1 beating the crystals first then him, & the 2 version on beating culex without beating all 4 crystals. You know whats happens when you do that? THE CRYSTALS REVIVE CULEX WITH 9999 HP AGAIN!!!!

In the original you could cheese the fight by doping Mario with attack up and like 4 lazy shell hits later on culex he dies and all the crystals died with him. I'm glad they understood the assignment this time.

If they kept this true to the original, then you can skip using super and ultra jump. Mario's Jump skill increases in damage over time the more you use it. It caps out after 500-550 uses IIRC.

On the original SNES, it reaches its limit after using Jump 255 times. According to a GameFAQs thread, someone did the math, and it only does slightly more damage than the Lazy Shell on average. Idk if it would be enough damage to one-shot the green crystal since it has 1800(?) HP.

It would make them easier to defeat and you can tell by the XP he drops and I always show difficulty after my runs.

Okay so I'm watching your super jumps and... How do yours feel faster??? I legit used a metronome (albeit one from YT as I don't have an app or a real one) and found myself at 68 metronome speed for my jumps, yet yours come just as soon as the previous 1-up sound is done and immediately starts the next.

Definitely rock the super suit and have a healer with the lazy shell. Taking out the crystals first is huge!

Yeah that's what I've been trying, my last attempt I destroyed all the crystals but died with the red one still alive. There is no way I can land 100 jumps for the super suit lol. @@sny_guy

For some reason I'm having a lot of trouble jumping on the crystal, I got 100 jumps on a normal enemy and got the Super Suit, but I just can't figure out when to jump on the crystal.

The jumps would randomly Target culex or the crystals making timing the button presses very, very hard

The crystals attacks are very powerful and can make you focus on healing rather than attacking. Culex also does red meteor after his countdown if they are still around. All that and yes, they will revive him. 😂

They were never frame perfect. In the original it was 3 frames after the 13th jump. Still hard as hell. If I'm not mistaken they uped from 3 frames to 4-5 frames. It definetly feels easier than the original but is still hard to pull of.

The Super Jumps seem to be doing WAY more damage than normal. Do you, like...have the Jump Shoes on him, and that makes his Jump moves supernaturally powerful, or what? This...doesn't seem like it should be possible without hacking. Crazy to see, certainly. EDIT: Seeing it through fully, I see Mario's accessory was the Attack Scarf. I guess that makes sense, ha. The stronger Mario-exclusive accessory. But still... Almost 4500 damage in one use? 100 Hit limit now for Ultra Jump is pretty insane, though.

Try using a wired pro controller. Also, make sure to go into the Switch settings from the home menu, and change the pro controller mode to wired. I was having a similar issue playing with the wireless joycons. Once I switched to the right setup, I immediately started getting 50+ every time and definitely only lost it when I obviously screwed up. Ended up getting it about 10 minutes after swapping. Hope this helps :)

There is 2 fights with Culex in the remake. One where he is in 2D, thus he's confused as how Mario is in 3D. And a rematch where he harnessed the power of 3D. Am not joking, its literally what he's saying
