Why do people have this compulsion to bitch so much about modern movies in such a robotic way? The exact words are 100% predictable. Everything old is perfect and nothing new has any value. Why even bother, when we all know that every 5th comment will be identical anyway?

@@cattymajiv I noticed my initial response didn't post! Obviously? I'm in my 60's and 20 years ago and certainly back when this film was made there certainly was objection to black faces in Hollywood films! My grandparents as well as great-grandparents shared their stories and were offended and hated it. When you're the one being discriminated against, it is offensive and when you're not affected, it is easy to say there was no bad intent! I'm not starting an argument here, just stating another perspective to this picture which came at the very end. I'm not saying it should be erased, just adding a perspective. It's a reminder of our past not just in this country but world wide. We've come a ways from this history, but we still have a long ways to go! Thanks for sharing!

@@cattymajiv Whether I'm young or old is not the issue. Twenty years ago when they made this film this black face was just as offensive as it is today. The only people who accepted it was the ignorant people that made the film and thought is was ok to wear the paint. That they didn't know what they were doing was mean, unkind and racist is a fallacy. That you are not offended is your loss - I am offended and I'm sick of people telling me not to be and that it is ok because it was ok long ago. IT WAS NEVER OK!! (And by the way I'm not young!)

I find the black face extremely upsetting and colonial and what would have been an enjoyable film, i assume it's just a reflection of the times one lived in.

Yes, it is a reflection of those times. It's just how it was. It's awful to say this but they were not taught appropriately that all God's children should be treated equally.

You can tell in last scene she’s only 15 at the most! Corny … but interesting all the same

@@daphnekivinen9482 No offense intended, but you and the OP must both be quite young, because you obviously don't realize some of the facts. It would be bad to do it now, of course, and I would hate for anyone to be offended. But as little as 20 years ago and certainly way back then when this film was made, there was no bad intended by it, and certainly no insult, so no offence was taken. Some people masquerades as black jazz musicians because they respected them. It we not a universal insult as the R wing tries make it seem.

@@cattymajiv I said it was a reflection of those times. Go back and read my comment again. Also, at that time, they were racists and my comment was correct. I am 77 years old and you totally misunderstood my comment by itself.

So annoying that they keep uploading movies for everyone to enjoy rather than catering specifically to the tastes of Trevor Clarkson

@@steveblundell7766 Good one! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣 Sure it's a corny premise, but no worse than comic book characters, or 100 other stupid American ideas. It's still an entertaining show!
