Japan is attempting to move forward( as it has always done, while retaining it's identity and culture) and the UK's so called diversity isn't so beneficial,as with all of the violence and disharmony and lack of a particular cultural identity which even in difficult times, can galvanize people!..When I visit a country( like Japan) I hope to see& meet locals and experience their culture! That's the point of traveling to another country!

@@indiankid8601 Your "Drip" means your stylish or luxury clothing and accessories. It's luxury or designer brands and expensive, high quality items. The saying kind of comes from "wearing your wealth" so others can see it and know you're well off and don't have to worry about struggling. You have excess--you're "dripping money" as you walk by. You hear Japan is quite modern but at the same time, you see many advices about having a lot of cash with you because they do not take credit cards everywhere, even within Tokyo. It feels quite surreal to me. Just imagine you go to Paris or New York and they tell you you cannot use credit cards... When you go to Chinese supermarkets in London Chinatown or any other city you still have to use cash unless you spend over £10. Also bigger Cities in UK are more diverse and they are blessed with it, but living in smaller cities and growing up as a minority you ain't shocked, it's like you just have to live with it 😅 For me I didn't mind using cash in Japan cause then I knew how much I was spending but if I was spending a lot of money then I use debit card.

1. Businesses pay fees for credit card transactions. That's why some small businesses refuse card payment if your purchase is small. (Funny thing is, it's technically illegal for a business to refuse card payment - at least in Korea anyway, where I live) 2. Receiving payment in cash = there's no recorded proof that they made sale, so they don't have to report it. As a result, they pay less tax. I live in Korea, and Korea, too, is a very developed country. But small businesses really appreciate it if you pay in cash. My barber always cracks a smile when I offer to pay in cash or make a direct deposit to his bank account via internet banking. But... I've been seeing less businesses that straight up refuse card payments now, since people started reporting them.

Yeah I was in Osaka last year and I overheard from another foreigner who happened to visit the same city 10 years ago. He told his Japanese coworker (judging from their IDs as they were sitting across me) that he was impressed by how everything looked the same as the first time he came. He was referring to the same pachinko and subway by Ibaraki. I miss my Japan trip. In fact, I feel like going back soon. And get lost. 🤣

The biggest culture shock is if you are a westerner and get a job there. Mandatory overtime with no pay and you never can say no to any senior. Can never speak up to a senior even when they have a terrible idea and you have a far more efficient way of doing things that saves money. Japan is the reason global flight laws changed. Planes were crashing because the senior pilot was making bad decisions and the junior was never allowed to correct him. Once our lives were at risk the world said no your culture doesn't superceded our safety. It's one of the only areas of Japanese society that a junior can question and even relieve his senior of duty if they are making the wrong decisions.
