Well ,majority of Malaysians don't want to make tiny matters into big matters ,sometimes it is pointless and waste of time , if you can forgive other's mistakes ,then it will return back to you when you do mistakes ,people will forgive you back. It is just tolerance , give and take 😄.

You know what? The "sometimes can, sometimes cannot" story about your plane ticket rings a bell. I had the same experience with Malaysia Airlines, not in Malaysia, but in The Netherlands. They said no to me over the phone, but when I visited the office in Amsterdam, I was serviced by a Malaysian staff member, and everything was good. I guess it is not just a "practice" in Malaysia, but also by Malaysian companies over the world. LOL!

I teach architecture at a local university. Whenever I bring my students for site visits, I'm always annoyed when their walking distance is about 10 minutes max. These kids just hate walking. If they need to walk more than 10 minutes, it's "too far" already, and must drive instead! I told them their typical walking range should about 30-40 minutes and they hated me for it hahaha.

about locking the car even with someone inside and taking valuable things with us after leaving the car are what we have practiced since we were little. it became a habit bcs it's not like there was no robbery cases at all. there were even cases where people broke into cars even if we already locked it. we're afraid it will happen to us, so we do that as a precaution

I don't think not honking is not because we're patient, but the fact that everyone else cuts in traffic it becomes a norm in driving. Our roads have a lot of unexpected bottlenecks that sometimes forces even the most courteous of drivers to cut in to a different lane at the last minute.

Well, as a Malaysian, i admits that our cockroaches are frightening 😂😂. But at my hometown in Sabah, there is a type of insects that is even bigger than cockroaches (don't even know it's name) with big eyes, hard body and wings and making loud noises. Even when you beat it with a newspaper repeatedly, it won't die but keep on flying towards you. It's about 3 inches big 😂😂. There is a cave named Gomantong near Sabah where the local climb inside to collect bird nest delicacy. But on the bottom of the cave, if I am not mistaken contain the most cockroaches infestation in the world.

there's a wild cockroaches or my folks called it "soil cockroaches".. being afraid of cockroach since little~ i began to learn to identify them lol..home cockroaches usually like the said before (male-fly and female-don't fly. one thing tho-the cockroach that can fly usually have body like a bullet~kinda aerodynamic/thin.. the ones that can't fly have more round-thick body and both of them were yellow-eyed and brown-a bit transparent-wings) .. but the earth/soil cockroaches don't look much like cockroaches at all. it almost looks like a beetle. it had like bullet design body-totally black in both wings and eyes-eww and yes~ it was really hard to die lol..stupid cockroach even if you try to step on it once it wont die that easily..it still can make run for it lol..even the insect spray takes time to kill it lol..it had almost like that body armor..but it can't fly.. can only crawl on the ground.. and you can only find it when you accidentally found it on the ground or if you dig the soil near its nest coz its usually hiding..aandd it bites..lol.. anyway those cockroaches are only around if its cold and wet (rain) and if there's a leftover food lying around and if the area is dark and gloomy..🤣🤣🤣

Your video is so funny and cute, Kakak Korea. Ok.., these are some of the info/reasons to some of your culture differences, first of all, Malaysians are very very patient. We are laid back and not so uptight about a lot of things. Its ok to give way and good to be courteous on the road. However, other than this, it’s also not wise to honk at some rude obnoxious drivers coz you may come across someone who’s a road bully, and they will come out of their car or motorbike and bash your car. Better to just let it be and move on. Next, the flying big cockroaches are the males. Males fly, females can’t fly. That male cockroach was attracted to you....😂😂 ... just kidding 😂😂, but I’m not kidding about males fly, ok .. and you’re right, we drive even though it’s a 5 mins drive away...

The "honking" incident. I think about 18 years ago or so, they were cases where people honk out of anger and impatient that they would be dead because "samseng" would stop them with their car and shot the "honker" or just break out a fight. Hence, this 'patient' culture in driving occurs. "Samseng" was still rampant back then. I am not sure if it applies to everyone but I saw my parent's habits in driving because of that and I also follow them. But being patient can also be due to religious teachings.

Firstly we do honk, but not as trigger happy as in other south east asian countries. For eg like you said maybe the other driver does not realise his action, say his car is reversing towards yours behind him without his knowledge then you do need to honk loudly, but not lengthy, to alert him. Secondly, yes generally malaysia is a safe country, but as I have pointed out to others before, everyone must still take precautions, and not let his/her guard down and take things for granted. You never know when you get unfortunate, being at the wrong place at the wrong time, ie the only thief going around preying for a victim during the entire month happens to do his round on that particular evening and not other nights, and he happens to target the particular place you are at... So, always be wary, hopefully nothing untoward befalls us. Stay safe and have fun staying in malaysia. 7 years? Wow! 👍

I think it's important to integrate to the local culture. I appreciate the patience, tolerance and friendliness that Malaysians have become known for. Growing up in the east coast of the U.S. where drivers are infamous for being aggressive, it's common to see aggressive honking and cursing which can lead to physical altercation. If you visit the U.S., avoid aggressively honking at crazy drivers and definitely do not curse at them unless you're prepared to physically defend yourself. Some cultures can have a heated argument and leave it at that. Others are willing to kill or be killed when someone mouth off at them.

when taking driving license class, we are also taught the manner of driving. its better not to honk sometimes because it can ignite fights and patience is the best thing to do. because we don't want to fight each other and turn it to be a street fight which can cause some people to hit your car and its damn expensive to repair. but after all, its about moral, and law and road etiquette.

Outdoor cochroaches fly and bigger compare to indoor ones. Fireworks are almost a month during Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Aidil Fitri and Deepavali. The most spectacular fireworks are on independence day. Younger generations are lazy to walk. One grab driver told me that they would rather take a grab for a 5 mins walking distance. Sometimes we do angry but we just endure it and quietly cursing(?) 😆 If u talk about govt. offices, if it was me, of course sometimes we do upset that the services takes more time. But yes we cant really do anything about it. Sometimes i do want to complain, but yeah.. it happens all the time so.. we hv to just endure it in the end 😂

6:09 sometimes can, sometimes cannot - as someone who work as call centre agent, to me that kinda world wide. call centre have quite limited access and authority. let’s say you work for brand A call centre and receive calls from every part of the world - each outlets of brand A might have different approach to certain issue, while the knowledge and format that you have usually the general ones. so for that, i usually advise to check with the outlet. either by walk-in or email. see what they can consider or tolerate or offer to compensate. this is just one of many factors. if they say cannot, but when you check with the outlet straight they say can, usually the main policy said cannot. but the outlet itself willing to tolerate, take the risk and take alternate decision.

My opinion on "sometime can, sometime can not" is, if according to the "rules" it is can not, but rules is just a guide to keep us in line. Often time, if we can help, we put aside the rule and help settle the problem. Yeah, some people might not agree, but if we can make some people life easier a little bit, why not? This is just my opinion, maybe it is not correct.

About the walking part. 10 years ago, would've been easily walk everywhere within KL (When u know the streets, its easier). But at the present, its safer to drive even for 5 minutes because the heat is unbearable. Can easily get heatstroke if not careful, walking path is beside the point as most important is stay hydrated & healthy. Sometimes Can, Sometimes cannot; we always look at the person's experience. The caliber person always say can and deliver because they know how it works (just amazing quality working class citizen), the one always say cannot is either new or just refuse to do the work or just don't understand how to serve. I've dealt with many people and 100% guaranteed it comes down to the person's experience and whether he or she having a good day or not.

1. we don't honk because it will obviously cause a situation like people assuming you're trying to pick a fight and that most of the time will escalate into a 'not so nice of a situation' (road ragers are real especially on the freeways). we try not to escalate small things into huge debacles here as we don't really know how would the other party reacts. 2. every month here we have a holiday/celebration so 100% fireworks festival all year round. fun fact : firecrackers are illegal here, so when you see kids popping those explosives - that's basically domestic terrorism. 3. we here are more of a river or lake kind of person. beach and pool are for the regular tourists. 4. safety is not our number 1 priority, most of times, usually lol. 5. the people here have a change of heart as often and unpredictable as the monsoon rain season passing by. 6. it's not to disinfect, it's to prevent food from sticking to the utensils - making it a pain to use and clean. 7. Malaysia is typically a safe country with low crime rates, but that doesn't mean that there's no crime - be mindful of your belongings because who know when will the 'local street magicians' perform their disappearing act with your stuffs. 8. the roaches here are big, black and bite too. pretty hilarious seeing even big burly guys freaking out over a flying cockroach. hey, Malaysia you know - it's pretty good

As all Muslim over the world always apply "Patience is half of Faith" as taugh by Prophets, thus as Malaysia is an Islamic country, this practice was also embedded since little to our nation..including to nonMuslim as well.. Its like trying to understand that everybody have their own problem and being angry over small things only make u stress and hypertensive.. Still everybody has different level of patience.. Just dont poke the beehive. Its very memorable to have flying cockroach landed on your face... Unimaginabally scarily goosebumpy.. Always prepare 1 cockroach killer spray at each room area.. About lock the door , lock the gate and everything, safety is important. People do that because there were bad incidence happen before. Its better to play safe than being the target of felony..
