I'm 74 years old and, without a doubt, this is one of the best versions of this old tune I've ever heard!! It amazes me that this old timey sound comes from such young musicians! Thank God they're keeping this kind of music alive!!

Im just turning 47 this year, just decided to learn banjo now, a lifelong dream, im from Australia and it has been a big American history lesson for me. I find it all fascinating.

If you can find them online, check out a BG band called The Powder Kegs. They did a nice job with Cumberland Gap.

I'm fortunate to live in Appalachia Ohio and to have seen them twice live. They're way much better in person. I was tired after watching them. Great performers.

The best part of this is around 5:50 they all start signaling to each other, ever so subtely, that this is the last refrain. Watch them all pass it on to the next.

Truly enjoyed your version of Cumberland Gap , I wonder if you have ever heard the version played by deceased Senator Robert Byrd ? If not you should look up his C.D. for fun and inspiration. That man was a great artist and knew many of the old tunes that I never hear anymore.

Playing along with my banjo, see the dog come into screen, think how happy it looks to be with all its friends playing some tunes. Then i realise this video is 6 years old and that dog probably isn't with us any more. RIP dog face you look like you grew old happy.
