I rode the C&TSR a couple of times as a kid (early ‘70s) when I lived in Taos. Great memories, and no doubt why I love trains and especially narrow gauge. Thanks for the video. It’s good to see the operation still going strong after all these years. I need to plan a trip back there soon!

Great Video! Me and my dad came from The Netherlands to see Big Boy / Golden Spike and stayed a week longer in the U.S. to catch the C&T opening of their season. Very nice to see the train we were on from this perspective! For sure one of the nicest railroads we ever took a trip on. (Including the narrow gauge railroads in Switzerland.)

Probably my fav place in the world (so far). Can't get enough mountain narrow gauge. I've never actually seen 315 running in person. Had the opportunity to be there to see it this time, but let me buddies talk me into camping in oklahoma... in the rain... instead. Don't know what I was thinking. Hopefully it'll be running when I take my kids out there in july

Yard Limit, thank you for the wonderful video of The Cumbres and Toltec Railroad's opening day for 2019. I have to say that although I live in Colorado I was still surprised to see as much Snow as there was on the ground near Cumbres Pass. God Bless You. 🙏🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍👍

Inncorrect. That whistle was the whistle that K-37 #497 wore in the 90's infact nobody is sure of its Origin, Earl Knob said its a Brass 6 Chime they found in a box of whistles they bought from PA, while it is a Flat Top like RDG 6 Chimes, i doubt its one.

Yard Limit you’re welcome and thank you. Also, do you know why they were watering the coal in 484’s tender around 3:30 or so? Last time I checked coal doesn’t grow haha

I have no idea unless it was to keep the coal dust from blowing about. I've never seen them do that before.

Does the Silverton line use to haul passenger trains back in 1882?
@YardLimit
@YardLimit 3 жыл бұрын
Durango was founded by the Denver & Rio Grande Railway in 1880. The railroad arrived in Durango on August 5, 1881 and construction on the line to Silverton began in the fall of the same year. By July of 1882, the tracks to Silverton were completed and the train began hauling both passengers and freight.

Nice, some say that the decline happen after World War 2 on September 2nd, 1945, but I consider from the 1820s to the late 1950s to be the golden age.
