Hi again..I just today finished watching your film from Cumbria way...I was so busy with planning actual trips during summer but today I started plan plan my CW..I so much appreciate your last talk in hut, about how so many people watching videos doesn't show reality...I experienced 15 wild camps on my C2C and break downs in bog, and I did high route with 27 kg..in bad weather.. I feel so much with you when you said you cried, as I remember how I pull legs up to kidsty pike and rain with tears and pain remind me how I can go through life with easy comaparing what I experienced up there... Im really considering high route on CW..and Thank you so much for your time and effort with making this film as I very well know youtubers miles 🤣... hope you will keep making videos...all the best...Lucy

Hey Lucy! Thanks for checking out the Cumbria Way video! IT's a beautiful thru with so much to see and do. I strongly suggest the High/Mountain Route (weather dependant). I did the C2C in May this year. Video coming soon!

Thanks for documenting and sharing your trip - great job. If you did it again with your new knowledge would you try and lighten your pack or maybe change to starting in Carlisle and finishing in Ulverston?
@heapswellnice
@heapswellnice 2 жыл бұрын
Really good question Rob. I would 100% lighten my pack, the quite and tent was a little overkill for the weather. I’m currently in the planning phase for another thru hike in April. I’ll post an updated video with my lighter pack soon :)

Great video Pete. How are you finding the Scarp 1? Also how do you find fitting it into your pack with the built in end struts? Cheers
@heapswellnice
@heapswellnice 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Liam, thank for checking out the video. For this type of hike, I think the scarp was a little too much, I would’ve been happy with a lighter/smaller tent. It was really easy fitting it into my bag, I simply scored it upright in my bag and it wasn’t an issue. Thanks!

Hi again...im currently preparing maps for my CW, and I can see after skiddaw turn to great calva and knott..but on os map and also on app there is no such a path...is it better to turn from skiddaw to skiddaw house and continue CW path to high pike? You said is bad navigation there..is there actually path after skiddaw? Many thanks ..lucy
@heapswellnice
@heapswellnice Жыл бұрын
Hey Lucy, there was 0 path from Skiddaw to Knott. You’ll need to make up your own path. People have walked this route before, so you’ll be able to follow their tracks lightly. But don’t expect a clear path from A to B.

Well done. Pretty fair distance to cover in 4 days, especially with the pack weight. Was the 15kg including water?
@heapswellnice
@heapswellnice 3 жыл бұрын
The 15kg was all in, maximum carry! About 5kg of that was food alone plus 1.5/2L in water weight too. Honestly, Ryan it was't that heavy at all! Thanks for checking out the video :)
@ryanrunningwild
@ryanrunningwild 3 жыл бұрын
@@heapswellnice No Problem. The pack weight side of things I find quite interesting, I only recently started hiking/camping, and my initial kit was a bit on the heavy side. It is always interesting to see what other people are carrying, especially for multi day hikes.
@heapswellnice
@heapswellnice 3 жыл бұрын
Agreed, there are so many different ways to weigh what you're taking which makes it confusing! Honestly I say "hike your own hike" and don't count the grams!!!! Check back in a few weeks, I'll be off hiking the Ridge Way (140kms) in 3 days, which a much, much lighter kit list. Happy Wild Camping!
