I think you'll find that's actually quite a popular idea on the Right. And I don't agree with it, but I can see their point. It's become so vague that it hamstrings our own legal system. So we end up with utter absurdities (like being obliged to give asylum to convicted sex offenders because they spuriously claim to have converted to Christianity).
@tempejkl
@tempejkl 15 күн бұрын
I mean, that’s what you would’ve thought about the Tories. They promised to do that in order to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda (Hitler had the same plans to deport Jews to the West, then blamed the Holocaust on them not taking any in (despite the USSR and Poland having very large Jewish populations, larger than Germany). Same thing with UK trying to send them to France, who takes in far more migrants than they do, and with them literally using them as an irregular warfare method against Ireland.

The plan to stop helping Ukraine is not a plan for peace. It is a plan for a brutal destruction of Ukraine (much more brutal than the curren stalemate) and for encouragin Russia to be more agressive. It is so naive to think: "the moment we stop sending arms to Ukraine, Russians will stop fighting and will go home." I can't really understand how someone can fall for this.

Some haven't voted for years or decades (except when they came out for "Leave"). Cummins doesn't understand these people AT ALL. As a EU citizen, I find the idea of not having a Breturn referendum until 2040 refreshingly realistic. Before it can even remotely hope to be welcomed back in the EU, UK needs to clean up the huge governance mess that led to the current state of affairs. This will take decades. Of course, some of Cummings’s other proposals (such as withdrawing from the Council of Europe) would bar UK from ever applying.
