The rust belt is used these days as a term for areas that experience harsh weather and tend to leave lots of oxidization on motor vehicles, and although the rust belt does fit this category the real term was used to define areas that experienced industrial and economic decline starting in the late 70’s and 80’s in reality the areas that are harsh on automobiles far outstretches the true rust belt. In reality anyone who lives above the norther edge of Tennessee is going to have lots of rust up to New England. But the area around the Great Lakes would likely be the worst.

@Pfirtzer
@Pfirtzer Жыл бұрын
It's goo when your own sink is bad it means you have a lot of work to do. My cousin is a builder of houses and he also does furniture fitting, once I visited his home and he told me to get some glasses from his kitchen cupboard, before I knew I was holding the door panel in my hands. He just laughed he said no time to fix it, way too much work on other people's stuff.

You got it from a fleet that's why, I need my service truck everyday, the company knows this, gives me a hassel about doing PMs on it, so it gets a oil change once a year, idles several thousand hrs. I won't be surprised when the engine blows up.

I've had great success with Tire Slime! Get the big bottles of liquid, it comes with a core tool. 2 pints per tire. Best to lift weight off when using, spin wheel around or drive immediately after filling to distribute the Slime. WalMart has best price. Other spray can stuff is junk!

I will be honest man. being a gas powered mechanic, I would had swapped a Gm 6.0 in there. Gas just makes things easier and simpler. Cummings engines are great and all but Expense wise probably cheaper to do the LS. Plus a used engine would had been like 600 to 1500 or so and easy to find. nothing wrong with diesel though if that is easier for you.
@HVAC_Jae
@HVAC_Jae Жыл бұрын
It really doesn’t make financial sense. But I suppose KZfaq views might make it ok. Diesel fuel is also around 25% more expensive too. He said the adapter alone is $4,000 right? Doesn’t make sense for the average person.
@bw1841
@bw1841 Жыл бұрын
I noticed the UPS company agrees with you, having ceased using their irritating diesels and installed big LS based gas V8s in their local route trucks. But where's the fun in simple? Probably an LS would need another trans and different gearing so there's that.

Just something so manly and enjoyable about driving a diesel...can't really put my finger on it but I used to drive gas powered pickups for doing construction work. Bought my first diesel 15 yrs or so ago (f250 super duty 7.3 powerstroke) and never looked back. Owned 2 more since then and just love driving them.

I used to drive these GMC Workhorse trucks for the USPS. They were very problematic. They would just die on the road all the time. It's interesting to see that yours has a manual release rear door. Ours had electronic door locks with key fobs that failed all the time. We also had backup cameras. We now have the Morgan-Olson Fords with gas engines that are much more reliable. No more electronic rear lock now either.

I know you said the truck only had 64,000 miles but a lot of those trucks had their odometers swapped out for newer ones so the trucks would sell for more. Only way to find the true mileage is to use a scan tool on the ECM. It would be really cool if one of your fancy scanners could do that. It would make for an interesting video.

With rebuilding batteries since there’s sulfuric acid in them that can melt the flesh off of your bones the few pennies you save are not worth it. Just buy a new cheap Walmart battery, & that be it. I’ve owned a Diesel truck for the last 4yrs, & have had to replace the batteries every 2-3yrs, & getting close to having to do it again on my ole 7.3 IDI.

Where i can find that air compressor?
@dustintunis9347
@dustintunis9347 Жыл бұрын
I don't know about that specific compressor, but I have 3 Harbor Freight 100 psi 12 volt compressors, one in each vehicle. They'll air up a car tire in a couple of minutes. They also have a 150 psi compressor that clips on battery terminals instead of using the 12v outlet because it pulls too much power for an outlet. It puts out more cfm than the 100 psi compressor as well as higher pressure, unlike the 250 - 300 psi compressors that take half an hour to air up a tire.
