In today’s video, we Cummins motor swap our dually Ford Ranger because it didn’t have enough power to tow our wake boat. Later we test the Ford Ranger to its max towing ability towing a Train with 260,000 lbs of weight in it and finishing with a tow off against a Sherp.

Id love to see the ranger get a complete makeover on its parts that are still stock. Like the frame since its rusty still, and the suspension since the rears bottom out while towing.

That one was built on a Wednesday, that generation of chev is seriously one of the worst trucks ever built, I have no idea how that one isn't blown up, broken frame, blown transmission, etc. You can hear in the video that the g80 is blown.

Absolutely incredible, this is exactly what I was hoping would be done with this Ranger. Need to source a heavy duty driveshaft/u-joints for this unit now. I would consider that a win against the Silveroodie too, it was hauling that thing easily before the u-joint snapped.

I put a 4bt in my dakota back in 2017. Been a damn good pickup and gets alot of attention. You should put a 3200 gov spring and fuel pin in on the injection pump and put a super hx30 turbo on. It'd run pretty dang good then. Also some 5x12 injectors

I agree with jacobcarr4037, add some anti wrap bars or traction bars to the front and rear axles to keep the axles from moving around and reduce wheel hop. You might try using U bolts or Girdles instead of the U-joint straps as the straps tend to twist and flex under load which can cause them to break... Also, you could even use a tractor ballast box and suitcase weights on the front so that it lowers the front end down a bit, lowering driveshaft pinion angle, which reduces the stress and tension on the U-Joint, Yoke, Driveshaft, and Axle... I have never owned a Ford Ranger but you Guys have done an Awesome Job... I Love it

For anyone wondering how the ranger towed 260 000, the drag coefficient of the train car is much less than that of actual tires, since its metal on metal it doesnt compress into the ground as much as a rubber tire would and in turn is much easier to tow.
