He’s saying they didn’t have anything for him, but they showed a video of him running right by a water station with someone holding out water for him and he just ran by them.

Get the headline correct. It’s not the water that disqualified him, it’s the fact that he had his own personal bike support team.

Getting water from aid stations slows the runners down and costs them time off the clock. Skipping aid stations and carrying your own water and gels is recommended for a better time. He took water from a family member who was in a bike. Hence he did not have to slow down or break stride. That’s why it is cheating and against the rules. Same rule is in triathlon. No aid from outside help.

Often for top runners they make their own bottles which are placed on predetermined tables. The little cups of water often provided at large marathons are not very efficient for fast runners trying to set a time. That said in a given race all must understand and follow the rules.

Grabbing water from the aid station slows you down. Skipping aid stations is part of the race strategy. So by taking water from someone riding a bike next to you while others do not is unfair. And also against rules. In triathlon as well

The rule is somewhat there for safety purposes as well as for level playing field purposes. If you are able to grab and sip water at will throughout the race without having to carry it yourself, it does give you some advantage over runners who are grabbing water from the official aid stations (have to slow down slightly to retrieve the water cups, which are more difficult to drink from than water bottles), and also an advantage over runners who are carrying water in hydration backpacks (carrying extra weight). The safety issue reveals itself by asking, “what would happen if every runner in the race had a personal water carrier biking alongside him or her throughout the race?

If the drink his was given was full of carbs then it would have given him an advantage over drinking water. Most peoples bodies run out of carbs about 20 or 22 miles into a marathen, so drinking some would give him an advantage at the end of the race. Although all the runners should be carrying their own bars of carbs that they can eat in the race.

Sure, let me clarify - are you saying that if the person responsible for handing water to the runners is not at their station or fails to provide water promptly, it could impact the runner's position in the race? Also, if there is any prejudice against certain groups of runners, does it mean that they can intentionally harm the runner's position in the race? The City has faced racism before, so is it possible that they could withhold water from a Latino runner? How do we know this wasn’t done intentionally by the ones providing water to sabotage this runner. This is honestly messed up and should be investigated further.

Ridiculously stupid disqualification. rules or no rules.
@pvt.24262 ай бұрын
If you don’t know the rules of the road, whose fault is that? Why do you think there is such a rule? [1]. Runners should NOT cheat and potentially get ‘doped-up’. [2]. To ensure a ‘fair race’, hydration at ‘official watering stations’ were used to assure ‘nothing else is in the water’. [3]. Who knows what was given to him by his Dad? [4]. The officials made the right call.

@pvt.24262 ай бұрын
@electrodynamicorb6548 Nobody (certainly, not I) said the dude who was disqualified had a transfusion on a bike during the race. (That came from you to support your narrative that no doping could occur.) To be clear, I never said this disqualified runner was self-doping. All I said was that the rule was broken (and this rule was NOT a secret). He should’ve known better. And, WE (which includes you) don’t know what he drank or whether there was a ‘banned substance’ mixed in. The point is ‘there could’ve been something’, hence the rule forbidding something being given to runners during the route, except at authorized stations.
@electrodynamicorb65482 ай бұрын
@@pvt.2426 yeah and what is that something it could have been? You likened him to Lance, he was receiving transfusions and injections. All the doping you could possibly do could only been done before the race. There’s absolutely no substance that would magically give you superpowers during a marathon.
