Omg yes , my hair is medium curly is like amanda’s not supper tight but not supper loose but wavy when transitioning and like all the tutorials were like your curl pattern will determine what products you need and my hair LOVEEEES heavy creams and deep moisture but all the recomendations for my curl type were , go for light weight products use gel only which never worked for me and I was so frustrated to tears thx to mell and amanda I figured it out

MEL!!! I was skeptical but I followed your recommendation for low porosity hair. It worked! My hair is Asian and African-American. Very thick and very coarse. I always thought I needed a lot of oil or conditioner in my hair. But you were right. My curl was weighed down. Now my hair looks so moisturized, it's soft and it's more curly. Thank you!!!

I’d love to see this become a series. Also I said “Yes!” out loud when you recommended it the Eva NYC mask; I’ve been using it since July or August and I love it. I believe my waves are medium-porosity (taking forever to dry), and fine-to-medium texture (doesn’t break very easily, but certainly not coarse). My biggest challenge is battling tangles and dryness after Day One, and fighting my climate which is always either too dry or too humid, never a happy medium.

I have medium to thick texture with a lot of hair. I also have low porosity/medium porosity hair. I love the idea of creating videos like this! Its hard to find women who create KZfaq videos that have similar hair to myself. It makes it easier when you create routines for curlies with different textures and porosities, rather than solely curl type ❤

Same here i don’t think i comented this but I was the only one with curls and i had always struggled and hated my curls and hid behind blown out smoothed hidden curls to feel pretty until eventually I found the curly side of youtube and actually started not brushing my hair dry everyday and using product but it didn’t quite work and my hair didn’t look as good as i’d like and i would be so frustrated every washday and in tears thinking my hair was bad because no mather what i did i’d frizz until i found mell i had been tired of all the curly miss info and when i found mell her saying she was a professional stylist gave me hope like hey she won’t give me miss info she a professional and knows her stuff and slowly but surely following her tips , prep style finish , protein moisture balance, ph balance, finger coiling… my hair finally started looking better and it made me so happy and relieved and now im so grateful because my curls are so healthy and SHINE my hair would never shine in the past and is gotten so curly , when i started my curls were waves and now they somwhat tight and is so magical and for that I will always support and recomend mell , I have sent links to her channel to sooooooooooo many curlies from teachers to friends MELL IN MY HEART YOU SHOULD OF WON THE AAA AWARD sending love ONE OF YOUR BIGGEST FANS I STAN

I absolutely love this one! I work in ulta and I use a lot of the information I've learned in your videos to customers that are struggling with their hair texture and it is such a rewarding experience. My hair personally has always been a struggle. I color and mess with my hair regularly so it is medium high porosity and I have learned as I've gotten older that my hair isn't just frizzy and messy but actually curly and wavy with medium texture and a ton of it but I struggle with frizz

This was SO helpful. I am a newly transitioning curly girl. All my life I thought I had semi wavy hair, so I straightened, blow dryed, used hot tools to get ringlets. In 2020 I had black dye stripped from my hair and damaged all my length. I started to nurture the damage and eventually cut it off. I started following your tips and low and behold, I have beautiful curls!! My hair is a crazy transformation to what it was a year ago. I have medium/high porosity and thick coarse hair.

This video is GOLD! I have low-medium porosity hair and I need a lot of hold to make it through the diffuser with some defined ringlets. I’ve been loving brush styling with the AG curl fresh definer, topped with a little Bounce Curl light creme gel! But my FAVORITE gel is the SheaMoisture coconut and hibiscus curling gel soufflé for the great shine and hold it gives.

As CRAZY as this might sound, at 36, this past year has been a year where I have actually "risked" not using the products I have been used to, to wash & style my hair, & truly seeking something that is simply just better. A little back story on me, my hair, although I LOVE my curls, has always been an insecurity of mine because I was bullied from preschool up until high school, that remember of, because my hair was "different" & I was the only one in my family that has this type of hair. Therefore, my Mom didn't even know what to use, let alone, how to style my hair growing up, mainly because of its thickness. There have been many moments where I've been in literal tears because my hair turns into a frizz & it's almost as if I've put nothing in my hair. My Husband would just wipe my tears & assure me that we would find the right stuff, no matter how many products we had to buy. Mell & Amanda, you truly have no idea what this means to me. It's literally a life changing moment for me.🥲🥲🥰 Thank you!💜🤍💜

Def going to try out some of those high porosity products!!! I was a natural blonde growing up, but as I got older my hair got darker, so I started getting highlights (from people who obvs didn’t know how to treat fine textured hair), and on top of that, around 2006 I started straightening my hair with the crappiest straighteners every stinkin day. I fried the 💩 out of my hair as I kept getting highlights. It wasn’t until 2020 when I found Mel and her advice changed the game for me. I get so many compliments now on my hair and how much better it’s doing. We’ve come a long way but still have a lot of repair to do. Thank you Mel and Amanda!!!! 💛

Yes! Loved this! Would love more, too! I’m on my third straight view, and it’s waaay past my bedtime, but I keep being distracted by Amanda’s oh-so-excellent editing, and then being entertained-LOVED the octopus fingers demo on high porosity hairs, Mell! Bye for now, gotta watch again and this time, I’m taking notes!

I love the idea of this series! I learned more about products I mights I have missed or forgot about. I love how your breaking it down is so helpful. I think I have between low and medium hair porosity and texture. My hair loves the twist products. When starting the curly hair journey I saw girl using thick, moisturizerizing products and using so much gel and over time I think my hair was getting weighed down and suffocating lol. Until I found your videos and learned less is more. And just use less of product and maybe using thick products aren’t good for my hair. The balance these products give is so nice! Keep this up!I recommend your channel to so any people.

Great video!!! Seems to make sense why certain products work better than others. I gotta check out some of the ones you suggested. Would love this to be a series, especially if you chose someone who is transitioning to or has gray hair. It's a different beast as I'm learning as I grow out my dyed hair at 39 years old (I started graying and dyeing in my late teens!)! Thanks for sharing your expertise!!

I have coarse, low porosity hair and I just tried the Twist shampoo. OMG my hair hasn't looked so shiny in two years! I didn't realize it had sulfates in it until after I used it, but apparently my hair was needing a very good clarifying. My curls also came back and I followed Mell's tips for volume video. My hair looks great. Mell always knows what I need. I'll be incorporating this sulfate shampoo once per week.

Thank you for this video! Very exciting theme, indeed. I'd love it to become a series. I have fine hair, medium density, porosity that is more to high than medium. This I have learnt from all of the tips on your channel how to find out, thank you so much for that, too! still much to learn, and I have yet to find the best possible products to my hair. Also, when I am a minimalist and want to keep the routine as simple and quick as possible. With full-time studies/work and family with children (hobbies to take them to several times per week plus all household stuff) I do not usually have time to use several hours for wash day routine.

I absolutely love your videos! I’ve been natural since 2013 and I STILL struggle! I’ve tried so many products & techniques but my strands refuse to be behave. I really like the different textures that you showcase, but how about adding a few ‘mature’ women for the 50+ ladies that follow you as well? Over the years my texture seems to have changed a little (as well as sprouting a few well earned natural highlights-aka grey hairs!) and I would love to be your first volunteer! You are fantastic, keep doing what you’re doing!!

This was so helpful. I’ve got fine hair, and newly highlighted hairs. So I’ll be adding lots of protein and gentle cleansing. I have the twist light clarifying, the AG curl fresh defined, and Aveda be curly cream stylers, and set with ouidad strong hold gel, scrunching the crunch with verb ghost oil. All items I got because youYOU! I’ve always shied away from butters but I will try it now that I’m highlighted. Since surgery six months ago I’ve been losing hair in giant clumps, so now that I know fine hair is so much more likely to break I’ll be treating my tresses with extra tlc. Thank you Mell.

im so happy i found this channel. it acknowledges all the nuances of caring for wavy/curly hair. im so over the cult-y cg world where they act like silicones and sulfates will kill you and obsessing too much on what their curl pattern is. i stopped trying to distinguish mine cause the pattern is different for all 10 hair strands that ive checked in one seating

Thank you for this wonderful video. I would love, love, love to be the next hair model. Can never have to many Maria models. :) I believe I have high porosity, medium coarse hair. My struggle is although using the denman brush makes my curls look amazing I have medium density hair and would love to learn how to make smaller clumps without having to separate the curls which makes my hair frizzy and not last as long. Thanks for another great video!!!!! You are an amazing seester duo. Great editing Amanda!
