Still remember my recent visit and the wonder I felt upon seeing this collection. Truly, Philippines was once a glorious society even before the arrival of the colonizers

@@vicparmi1939if you read the Pigafetta’s record he said, Rajah Humabon gave Magellan a gold jewelries that made by Rajah Humabon’s private jeweller. That’s one evidence that the pre-colonial filipinos know how to make jewelries, and there are lots of gold nugget in the rivers in philippines back then 😏

Get your facts straight. There is no evidence of that. Gold artifacts are found all over the country and there are no similar designs found in India. @@vicparmi1939

Thank you for presenting this. I hope these designs will be more visible in Philippine architecture and exhibited even through replica in different social settings such as resorts, hotels and special events for awareness and education 😊.

Truly a most outstanding collections with immense and invaluable historical value that no financial value can match. As many ancient pre-colonial maps have cited and indicated, the country is indeed labelled the Land of OPHIR( the Biblical-cited 'Land of Gold'), long before Magellan stepped into its shores and re-named it The Philippines. Visiting Ayala Museum just for this Gallery alone, is truly a most worthwhile experience of a lifetime indeed, as I have seen them with great awe and fascination, with my own naked eyes wide open.

Are there same museums in other Southeast Asian countries, showcasing their ancestral golds? Or ours more extensive?

I suppose pre-colonial times is much better than the colonial times and better even than today. Our ancestors were very wealthy. When Spaniards came our wealth vanished, the country became slave to King Philip and until now we are bearing the slave name Philippines. Our people then were stripped off of dignity and were called INDIO and FILIBUSTERO while King Philip's people became the rulers of our country and almost all common people, the Indios and Indias were deprived of education for almost 400 years. Uneducated Indio were named after King Philip "Filipino", a mark of King Philip's colony, the slaves. That's why Dr. Jose Rizal composed the novels "Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo" so that new generations of the so called Filipinos will understand where they came from and who they were and how they were subdued, enslaved, stripped off of wealth and put their lives into misery. The Spaniards with the aid of a strong influence of their so called religion "Roman Catholicism" the culture and customs of the people were destroyed. Now, a new breed of Filipinos are born confused, jealous, divided, fearful to stand as a nation, corrupt leaders, no love to the country, traitors to their own fellow Filipinos. I just hope and pray that the true God of heaven and earth break these evil chains our colonial masters placed in our hands and feet. I just hope that many Filipinos realized what the colonials master did to our race. I just hope that we can still rise above these bad influences and create a new country that is totally free from the shackles of foreign powers. Dr. Jose Rizal wanted Filipinos of today to remember the miserable history of our country in the hands of the Spaniards and come for a real change: to be united as one to free the country from the 400 years slumber.
