Mr. Ladsous joins UNU Center for Policy Research Director Sebastian von Einsiedel for a conversation examining the current and future challenges for UN peacekeeping, including the ten-fold increase in deployed peacekeeping personnel since 2000, new responsibilities with respect to the protection of civilians, and the tendency of the Security Council to deploy peacekeeping operations to situations with no peace to keep and to equip them with mandates allowing for the use of force.
