Hazy and 🥵 indeed. Love the Fleshtones. I may have to dig out my Lone Justice album. I haven’t played that record in decades. That’s a real happening Mose Allison title. He’s a swingin’ cat. Bad Girls is bad ass. Love that one. Have a wonderful vacation. 😎

"She Works Hard For The Money" is my favorite Donna Summer song....I also like On The Radio....and others. I had The Fleshtones's "Roman Gods" when it came out, but that record is long gone. Seems like I enjoyed it though. I also had a record by Chesterfield Kings; I always think of those two bands together. Have fun on vacation!

Those are both classic D Summer tracks as well for su re. Roman Gods I still have. I found out a short while after I did this video that The Fleshtones had cancelled their upcoming gigs due to a band member illness. Another time hopefully! Thanks for watching Randy-appreciate it! 😎🎶

I don't have any solo material by Barrence Whitfield but I do have two albums he did with Tom Russell and I really enjoy them. I recently picked up that Fleshtones album recently and it was signed by all the band members. I was a big fan of Lone Justice and also picked up the first few solo albums by Maria McKee's but I didn't keep up with her releases. I like that Tift Merrit album too, and she also did an EP with John Howie of The Two Dollar Pistols. Great Mose Allison selection. All of your choices are right up my alley. Have a great vacation.

Hey Randy, thanks for watching and responding! Wow...autographed Fleshtones vs. Reality-unbelievable! I was unaware of the Tift Merritt duet. She is really great and on my radar to check out live. Enjoy the rest of your weekend 😎🎶

Hi Ed, wishing you a nice vacation. I have that lone justice album and like it. The Sweet Relief album I have been wanting for some time. I sort of overlooked that Maria McKee was on that one. That one also has Buffalo Tom and Evan Dando of the Lemonheads. Great video as always!

Thanks Shawn for watching, responding and the well wishes! Been enjoying your output as well. Maria McKee's version of 'Sweet Relief' is my fav track on that compilation. Enjoy the rest of your weekend 😎🎶

Hi Ed! That’s the first time I’ve seen that Barrence Whitfield album in the vinyl community. I have it! I saw Lone Justice open for U2 on the War tour in Ottawa a million years ago. I have that debut and the disappointing follow up “Shelter.” Mose! I have a couple but not that one. I think Donna Summer was originally from Boston. ✌️
@onmyturntable703616 күн бұрын
Ow! Ow! Ow! Yup, Donna Summer was from Boston. That Lone Justice debut my friend Dawn and I wore out in the cassette deck of her Honda Civic back in the day. I never bothered to pick up Shelter. Missed opportunity, that Lone Justice. 😎

Sidebar: I'm going to put together a showing of my 80's 12" in R&B and Rap, and some other oddities. Kind of a response to @mrhoffame (Brandon) response to my female artist thread. 😎

Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t Lone Justice turn down a Dylan song he wrote for that album Sweet Relief such a great cause and albums Glad you metioned Giant Sand Im a big fan of them l. Love Calexico and Howe Gelb solo too. Im not sure i went to a “ disco “ but that sounds like fun but I’m not a dancer !
@onmyturntable703616 күн бұрын
Hmm..i think you may be right about that, Jesse. It was cool to go back and revisit that Victoria Williams tribute. Calexico I've always liked, but need to explore that catalog more. Any recommendation with a place to start would be great! Thanks for watching 😎🎶
