I'm a collector, so there's a small chance that I'll get rid of pen unless I have just too many of the same brand. I almost always give my pens away. I like to share my love of fountain pens with others, and gifting them to someone else seems the best method other than purchasing a new one for a special event gift. I generally have too many pens inked 😉 but I've just received my first bottles of Ferris Wheel Press thanks to one of your videos - roaring patina black and blue beryl tonic. As always TFS!

Oh man. I wonder what you were thinking when you wrote meadow instead of dragon. I usually make that mistake if my mind was somewhere else 😅 As far as collecting pens I’m very new so I have no input that may help. My starter pens though I would probably pass down to my nieces or nephews if they were interested. You know. To be the cool auntie😅

Thank you for sharing! I'm only using 3 pens this time around: Pilot Custom 823 inked with Shin-Kai, Waterman Carene with archive ink, and Lamy 2000 with Twsbi blue. Very boring. I might have to ink up another pen with a fun color.

I enjoy your videos so much. I would love for you to do a video on which pens and nibs in your collection do well with shimmer inks and shading inks. You often mention this in your currently inked, but I would find it helpful to have a video on it. I prefer pens that are smaller (but not too small) like the Pro Gear Slim so I differ from you there. But I think it would still be helpful to have a video like that. I have just acquired a few "10" pens and so am thinking about letting go of others that I don't love. I do hesitate a bit to let go, but generally I it's not that difficult.

Your aesthetic is so pleasing to my eye. You hold pens the same way I do! It looks like you're pressing the nib pretty hard on the paper, but if your grip is anything like mine, you're not actually pressing hard on it. You're simply holding the pen tightly. It's the only way I can make my handwriting look decent haha. Definitely subbing to your channel!

A few things. 1. You said Diamine Red Meadow. There, I corrected you. 2. I don't like the Lamy aesthetic either. Too industrial? 3. Crazy busy this spring, a zillion tasks every workday. I think a regular ink maybe good enough for fine stub 580, kelp tea from what I heard is very very dry (which kinda aids with the shading). side note, I picked up opera rose a few days ago, absolutely obsessed with it!

I did a big pen clean out about a year and a half ago.... I found that the beginner fountain pens I had purchased over the pandemic were no longer getting into my rotation AND I wanted to make some cash so I could buy a Pelikan M600 (at the time, my grail pen) I was surprised how easy it was to sell my pre-loved pens. I used Facebook Marketplace. I have done the same thing with bottles of ink that I was no longer using and had good luck on Mercari.

I bought a bit too many cheaper pens when I got started because I assumed I’d never spend more than $50 on a pen so I’m now trying to be more thoughtful about the pens I buy especially because they are more expensive. Sending things out to people isn’t easy from my country and I don’t have many pen friends either so I think anything that enters my collection is going to have to stay in my collection for now. Given the opportunity though I think I’d be able to let go of a few.

I'm a new fountain pen collector but I've somehow ended up with 12 pens lol I have a few brands, Pilot, TWSBI, Sailor, Pelikan, and Caran D'Ache. I really like Pelikan and Sailor for their designs and aesthetics as well as quality nibs. Pilot imo have really really nice nibs overall but I find their CM nibs to be scratchy and not super pleasant to use (which is unfortunately the one on my Prera...). I like my TWSBI but had to do a lot of nib tuning and it took forever bc it was my first time doing it and I didn't want to ruin it (it had bad baby's bottom since its a broad nib anf I low-key ruined it tbh, it needs help. Might just grind it to another size idk) but it's otherwise a great pen (I also sort of broke the knob?) I just don't like how fragile they seem to be. My only Sailor is a Compass and I really want to get a PGS since I've heard good things about their gold nibs. I can't see myself getting rid of any of my pens unless I collected an obscene amount of them. I love them all for different reasons and enjoy them all. If I had one I wasn't sure if I should keep I'd probably instead just use it as a purse or pocket pen for work or whatever since I usually only keep crappy ballpoints I don't like in there and get mad when they're garbage and I'm trying to write something down. Plus fountain pens fit better in my smaller purses since I tend to buy smaller fountain pens since I have tiny hands 🥲 like fr, I had the nickname "baby hands" for awhile bc of it lol. Personally I keep only up to 4 pens inked bc I'm afraid I'd forget about them and they'd get dried out and I won't be able to clean them, it's a real stressor for me. I even journal and I like to write books (I'm partial to handwriting idk) and lists and things a lot so it's a silly thing to be worried about. I've had mine for less than a month and I've run out of ink in two of them already and the other two are half empty since I'm writing constantly. Anyways sorry for the rant I tend to get over-excited about my collection lol. Lovely inks! I've been needing to look into more brands and expand my colors so I'll have to look at some of the ones you showed in this video because they're so pretty!!

I love the pen holder that you display at the end. I’m going to look for one for my desk! I currently have four LAMYs that I am planning to destash because I don’t enjoy writing with them. I really liked the design but the nibs have been a let down (from EF to 1.1) I am hoping to find a LAMY enthusiast to trade for Kaweco or another brand. I am going to keep a pen diary this year (resolution: use the notebooks!) to try to better understand my pen/nib preferences, rotate my pens and identify which pens to give away or restash. Next let’s talk about keeping sticker collections in check 😊

I'm extremely careful on the intake, so getting rid of pens isn't something I really need to worry about. I've owned 7 pens - one I gave to my dad, the other 6 I still have and use regularly.

Gotta ask, is there a thought behind how you choose the pens you’ll use for an upcoming month? Also, has there been a pen or ink you’ve used for a month or two (or 10😉) before you switch it out? And that Diamine Steel Blue is heaven!

I am still early in my journey, but the pen that wasn’t working for me I have to my Pen Secret Santa that happened on Reddit with some ink samples!

I inked Blue Beryl Tonic for January….and ended up not liking it. I’ve learned I really enjoy writing with darker, bolder inks. I’ve been painting with BBT for months though, so I’ll just continue to use it for art. :D

I have given myself a limit of 10 pens (reached limit). To buy a new one I have to get rid of one... Don't currently want to get rid of any so, no new pens. I also have this dielma of I feel there is something wrong with the pen if I'm getting rid of it, so I don't feel right selling it. I'll probably just have to wait for a pen to break to get a new one 😒

I’m a little obsessive about my pens. Once I’ve got my greedy little hands on them, I just can’t bear to let them go. After 50+ pens, I’ve only met one that I didn’t like and that one serves as a cautionary tale so that I really do my research before buying. Ha, who am I kidding, I’m also impulsive when it comes to pretty pens! 😊

I have about four pens that I just don't gel with. I don't know how to move it along to someone who would enjoy them, unfortuantely.

I don’t let go of my pens unless it “speaks to me” and tells me it wants to go. Usually when this happens, I have a person in mind of where to send it, so I end up giving it away. I don’t like the back and forth of trying to sell pens, so I’m a bit of a pen hoarder for the most part. 😂
