This was an absolutely gorgeous beach to visit, and it was completely covered with small agates, jaspers and basalt cobbles that were filled with zeolites.
This is a location that we will surely return to in the future.

Would cutting one of those specimens be worth it? A cross section in the right area might look pretty cool. That was a solid lesson in the end about respecting nature. Life can be very fragile when confronted with the forces of the elements.

What a fun trip. Zeolites, agates, basalt, jasper all to be found, and you both did. We have been there for the green jasper. We were able to find several big enough make some ice cabs. Glad you left before the tides made it a swimming vacation.

Jasper is my favorite of all. You really need to get a rock tumbler for all the beautifil finds Sarah gets. Small but so pretty when tumbled. Drill a hole through the middle and make uncut bracemets or necklaces. Just to display in a big wooden bowl by the front door on an entry way table is so cool. People know when they enter they are entering a "rock lovers home." (And minerals, but you get the picture.)😅 Love you guys!!❤

That is such a great beach for rockhounding. Always prolific despite being so popular. Midway down from the tunnel, you find some weathered lava that is full of easy to extract nodules. The beach radically changes with tides and storms.

Hairy finds. Grains of sand are larger then that 0.006. One could get lost trying to imagine the journey those formations took to get to your hands and not be broken. It looked like it was a great day to be out with the sun in the right spot. I would hazard a guess that with near 180 degrees of cliff face, timing would be smart for ideal lighting. Maybe I'm miss judging the length of the beach, either way, nice looking spot.

They are certainly very fine crystals. I'm surprised the rocks they're in are enough to protect them as they get tumbled on the beach.

Thanks for sharing. Rocks be slippery art the coast. Erionite fibers only pose a hazard if they are disturbed and become airborne, and control recommendations should focus on reducing the potential for exposure to airborne erionite fibers. Activity-based breathing zone air sampling has confirmed that when gravels containing erionite are disturbed, erionite fibers can become airborne.10 Intensity of these exposures may vary due to a number of factors, including the weather conditions (damp vs. dry, windy vs. calm), the intensity with which erionite-containing materials are disturbed and the concentration of erionite in the gravels being disturbed.
@CurrentlyRockhounding

I really don't think its as much of a concern as you're making it out to be here.

@@CurrentlyRockhounding I personally dont worry about it or the Carnotite, I know its coupcoup, but there are cancer hotspots where the eronite weathers out a lot, like the Mad river in ca from the serpentine or Orovada, nv from the lava based playa. edit, thats asbestos fibers from the serpentine.

Never turn your back to the ocean! Especially in the PNW. We get some killer sneaker waves. If you do get pulled out to the water swim along the coast at an angle until you are out of the undercurrent. You can’t swim against the tide. It’ll wear you out.
